Art History as the Evolution of the Sacred
By Emmanuel Garibay

Artist and educator Emmanuel Garibay presents a thought-provoking perspective on art history by tracing how humanity’s understanding of the sacred has shaped artistic expression across civilizations. Blending philosophy, religion, culture, and visual arts, the book invites readers to see art not merely as aesthetic achievement, but as an enduring reflection of humanity’s search for meaning, transcendence, and the divine.

The Bizarre and The Beautiful refers to the combination of unusual, strange, or unsettling elements with aesthetically pleasing forms to create meaningful visual experiences. Artists use this contrast to challenge traditional ideas of beauty, provoke curiosity, and encourage viewers to explore deeper emotions, symbolism, and interpretations. Rather than simply depicting attractive subjects, this artistic approach demonstrates that beauty can also be found in the mysterious, the grotesque, and the unconventional, making the artwork both thought-provoking and emotionally engaging.

The Bizarre and the Beautiful, The Exhibit will be extended until july 16, 2026, 1Pm - 7Pm at The Foyer, La Herencia Davao.

There is something compelling about the unfamiliar. It invites us to pause, question our assumptions, and look beyond first impressions. This exhibition brings together works that exist between the bizarre and the beautiful, where tenderness meets discomfort, intimacy intertwines with distortion, and memory blends with performance. Rather than offering certainty, each piece opens a space for reflection, encouraging viewers to engage with emotions, experiences, and identities that often escape simple definition. Through surreal imagery, fragmented narratives, and deeply personal expressions, the exhibition explores how beauty can emerge from what initially feels strange.

The bizarre and the Beautiful, The Exhibit will be extended until july 16, 2026, 1Pm - 7Pm at The Foyer, La Herencia Davao.
