Decolonial Practices
From In-Between Spaces
August 30th,
12:30–21:00

The upcoming event “From In-Between Spaces” brings together plural and multidisciplinary artistic practices. Through an exhibition, conversations, workshops and a performance, the event invites exchange and explores the border as an in-between space, where different histories, experiences and ways of knowing meet. The participating practices foreground embodied experiences and challenge narratives by making space for plurality, encounter and collective exploration.

Nasma Al Shutfa: I am Grateful (?!)

Window Exhibition

from 11 July- 23 August

The installation “I am Grateful (?!) ” can be seen from 11 July to 23 August in the window of SIGN at Winschoterkade 10, Groningen. Day & Night visible.

SIGN regularly organizes window exhibitions that have a direct impact on the surroundings; they are frequently seen by passers-by, traffic, and the neighborhood.

In the Window Exhibition, the works are constantly visible from the street side, and the presentations must take the display window function into account so that there is always an interesting view from the street. Both during the day and in the evening, at night.

During the Window exhibition SIGN is closed because of the Summer recess.

From July 2 through 5, the city centre of Groningen will be transformed into a large exhibition space during the Graduation Show featuring the work of the bachelors students at Minerva Art Academy.

More than 200 graduates are presenting their work to the public, ranging from visual arts and design to art education.
For four years, these students have been working on their development as creators, researchers, and designers. During the Graduation Show, you’ll see the results: unique projects, installations, performances, and visual narratives that demonstrate how they engage with today’s world.

SIGN will host Fine Art graduates Chloe Ginty , Lia Spasova , Rink Rekker , Gerben Oolbekkink , Fardau Visser and Martina Rovatti .

The Minerva Graduation Show is on view at SIGN from July 2nd until 5th, from 12:00 to 20:00.

ZUNNEKLAORTE
Sunday, June 21
Experience the summer solstice in Wim Warrink's open-air laboratory!

“Zunneklaorte” is a sequel to Wim Warrink’s ‘Tweeduuster’, which took place on December 21, 2025.

Which physical phenomena influence the landscape experience and contribute to an emotional experience?

To get a grip on the summer solstice of the Grasland Ezinge landscape, Wim Warrink has conducted many experiments with light, time, space, and distance. With his self-made (measuring) instruments, sunlight is captured and bent, and time is intercepted on this longest day.

Join in to create the phenomena together and experience their mystery. There are special time catchers such as the DIY sundial (for this day only). There is a Noon Cannon to capture every hour with a bang and a mini rainbow. Clay runners from Groningen join in the action. A large solar telescope projects the sun onto paper and reveals the nuances of its surface. There is a glass object and water lenses of all kinds to demonstrate ‘far-sightedness’ yourself.

Zunneklaorte is a contemporary inspiration based on Galileo (“and yet it rotates”).
Accessible to everyone; choose your own moment between 10 am and 5 pm.
There are snacks, refreshments and shade.

Location Grasland: Torenstraat 40, Ezinge.
Parking: at Museum Wierdenland, Swinderenweg 10; Village Hall, Nieuwestreek 33; tennis court Notweg 2.

Grasland Ezinge is an idea by the Groningen artist Koos Buist. Art space SIGN collaborates with him on these projects.
