'Lion's Court' (2025) by Margit Lukács & Persijn Broersen is will be exhibited at Rencontres Paris/Berlin.

The Lion’s Court is a film—a short opera—in which the Dutch parliamentary buildings, the Binnenhof, function as a virtual stage, infused with history and myth.

Inspired by the discovery of 14th-century lion bones and the historical symbolism of stranded whales as omens, Lukács & Broersen created a digital Hortus Conclusus: a fluid, enclosed world where power, morality, and prophecy collide. At the center stands the lion Faust, a despot in search of a freedom that consumes itself, drawn from the vision of redemption in Goethe’s Faust, in which land is reclaimed from the sea.

Here, Faust struggles with the question of how power and prosperity relate to morality, only to be ultimately swallowed by the rising waters, carried by a whale (the personification of Grand Pensionary Johan de Witt) singing the foundations of freedom and equality.

In collaboration with composer and political scientist Bram Kortekaas, a Faustian dilemma unfolds: how far may one go to realise one’s ideals, and at the cost of whom, and what. The Binnenhof acts as a mirage, as a stage of power and illusion.

Rencontres runs from 5 - 7 June, 2026.

The Erotics of Knowing is Field Studies’s second residency at Raleigh Chapel, London. The program is co-curated by Imogen Stidworthy, Dasha Anasova and Joseph Kohlmaier, and runs from 3 to 7 June, 2026.

The Erotics of Knowing is an intensive programme consisting of workshops, lectures and conversations, eating together, screenings, open rehearsals and performances. The Erotics of Knowing frames knowledge as an embodied and relational process and asks how we can recover the erotic as a critical framework that roots language and thought in sensation and affect.

On Saturday 6 June, Imogen Stidworthy will be in conversation with embodied health practitioner Fiona Fane-James to explore fundamental, liminal questions in Stidworthy's work. The conversation follows a screening of ‘In a Thread of Air’ (2026), one of the centre-pieces of Stidworthy’s recent show at Chapter Gallery.

Field Studies creates an open, polyphonic space that changes with every new arrival, and every time a new biography is added to the collective. To find out more about how to join and to learn more about the current line-up of events, participating artists and practitioners, visit field-studies.org.

In 'A Poem from the Volcano' Odonchimeg Davaadorj asks the viewer to envision the landscape they would choose to be:

“what would we be if we could choose to become a landscape?
The luminous tropical sea.
The North Sea with its cold wind.
A silent mountain.
I believe I know what I would be.
I would be a volcano.
A quiet force.
An inner energy transforming matter.
Because in truth, we are never separate from the world.
We are made of the same substance as water, stone, and stars.
I exist because you exist.
You, me, the tree, the sea, the earth — all belong to the same breath.
And perhaps that breath has a very simple name:
Love”

We are open tomorrow from 1 - 6 pm!

Cevdet Erek is part of this year's II Korkut Sonic Arts Triennale 'Rites of Eternal Wind' with his new installation 'Ortalık' (2026).

Dedicated to sound and listening, the Triennale creates a space for a wide range of sonic practices without restricting them by institutional boundaries. 'Rites of Eternal Wind' hosts sound installations and live events, listening sessions and soundwalks, hybrid lectures, discussions and workshops, somatic performances and explorations of sonic rituals and environments where sound is absent or even impossible.

Cevdet Erek commissioned the central piece of the exhibition, both literally and figuratively, the modular architectural and multichannel sound installation hosted in Tselinny’s largest space, named ORTA 3, where 'orta' stands for 'center', 'middle', or 'environment' in Kazakh. The installation will be seen in constant transfiguration over the course of the Triennale. Titled 'Ortalık', meaning 'immediate surroundings' or 'the world around one' in Turkish, Cevdet’s work ties together several discourses universal to diverse communities worldwide, from the nomadic style of house-building, always in a state of flux, to how natural materials can transfer memory and history, especially in situations of migration, when one seemingly loses touch with one’s motherland. The artist also describes this work as an experiment in staging and in the mobility of performers and audiences, noting that one of its sources of inspiration comes from the moving platforms that connect piers and ferries in Istanbul, the city where he lives.

The Triennale is hosted by the Tselinny Center of Contemporary Culture in Kazakhstan and runs until June 28, 2026.

This is the last weekend to visit 'in sua umbra' by Axel Hütte at Villa Rot!

This solo exhibition is a retrospective showcasing Hütte's artistic interpretation of Baroque architecture in Upper Swabia.

The title ‘in sua umbra’, refers to his use of colour inversion. The photographs, taken with a large-format camera, have been cast into their own shadows. These are printed on glass and reflected via a stainless steel mirror mounted on the back of the work.

The exhibition is open until 31 May 2026 at Villa Rot in Burgrieden, Germany.

In 'Human Garden' (1 & 2), Odonchimeg Davaadorj draws family portraits, showing how humans, animals, plants and landscapes merge. It is as if we are rediscovering an ancient memory of life, from a time before categories separated us.

'A Poem from the Volcano' has been extended until 4 July!

Ulf Puder is part of the exhibition 'The Shared Now' at the Kunstmuseum Magdeburg in Germany.

What does it mean to live in the present moment, while also experiencing multiple and differing realities? In an era of rapid information dissemination, ongoing social upheaval, and rising individuality, the relationship between personal experience and collective reality is more clearly reflected in artists' works than ever before. Against the backdrop of multiple crises, the continuous negotiation between art and life is becoming an increasingly prevalent theme in art itself.
