Where light meets darkness, and abstraction meets imagination.

Gommaar Gilliams’ relationship with art history is deeply personal. His paintings embrace duality, bringing contrasting elements together with remarkable ease.

Echoing the painterly freedom of Cy Twombly and Georg Baselitz, his work carries the poetic magic of Paul Klee and the dreamlike imagination of the Symbolists.

In Alize, rich cobalt blues, delicate pinks and vibrant orange tones come together in a layered composition where painting and stitched fabric merge. A world suspended between memory, dreams and reality.

The expression "my garden is your garden" is deeply rooted in the philosophy and poetry of the classical Persian garden (pairidaeza), which was traditionally designed as a shared, open paradise where the abundance of nature was freely bestowed upon the community.

This concept aligns closely with the mysticism of Rumi or Saadi. Saadi's famous 13th-century masterpiece Golestan (translated as "The Rose Garden"), for example, revolves entirely around themes such as shared beauty, hospitality, and nature. Rumi also frequently wrote about spiritual gardens that transcend the boundaries of the self and welcome others.

WHERE THE LIGHT REMEMBERS

KERSGALLERY is pleased to present Where the Light Remembers, bringing together new works by Amy Wright, Yeon Kyung Park and Vika Mitrichenko.

Australian artist Amy Wright creates paintings in which landscape, memory and material converge. Botanical forms emerge and dissolve through layered fields of colour, shifting between abstraction and the natural world.

Working with acrylic, gesso, pastel and charcoal on linen, Wright builds surfaces that feel at once immediate and remembered — landscapes held not as fixed images, but as traces of experience.
