MEMORIES OF MATTER
For this exhibition, we have paired two artists who are intrigued by tracing the organic systems as they emerge, alter, and dissolve over time.

The work of is a form of photography with strong material presence. He leaves his negatives outdoors for months, allowing living organisms to feed on the photographic material itself.

Micro-organisms and minerals take part in the transformation of the sensitive surface of his negatives, alongside the chemical processes and disruptions he initiates.

invites viewers to experience the fragile, often invisible processes that shape our environment.

His process of creating network-like drawings with an etching needle explores self-organisation: new forms emerge spontaneously through the repeated use of minuscule graphic marks.

Both artists find their distinct ways to reflect a reality in constant motion.

THE SOUND OF NIGHT FALLING IN THE OTHER ROOM

In his solo exhibition, Bart Lunenburg presents new photographs, sculptures and his new research publication Drijfwoud (Driftwoods), published by . The essay about the project is also out via .

Artworks in ‘The Sound of Night Falling in the Other Room’ trace hidden wooden structures beneath Amsterdam’s historic houses and connect them to European timber traditions and the medieval river trade network that once supplied the city with wood.

Sculptural oak constructions from ‘Oever’ (2026) and the photographic series ‘Nocturnes’ (2026), created during Lunenburg’s residency in rural Germany, explore architecture as a carrier of memory — from layered foundations in Amsterdam to vernacular building traditions in the Rhineland.

Bart Lunenburg (b. 1995) is a research-driven artist who works across photography, sculpture and installation. He is involved with architecture, urban design and architectural heritage.
