Today in Venice we’re celebrating Saint Martino. At MPI gallery you can find plenty of Saint Martino’s Horses… not made of sweet shortcrust pastry, chocolate and candies, but made of Murano glass, hahaha 😜

San Martino in Venice, celebrated on November 11th, is a beloved event blending tradition, charity, and local customs. Children go from door to door singing songs and banging pots to ask for sweets or small coins, similar to Halloween trick-or-treat. A highlight is the “San Martino” cookie, a large pastry shaped like a knight on horseback, decorated with colorful icing and candies. This day also celebrates the autumn season with markets selling roasted chestnuts, wine, and traditional sweets. It’s a festive occasion that combines religious reverence with local Venetian culture.
