Starting from the end of the Nineties, the Gallery knew how to cut out its own space and become the reference point to lovers of historical design as well as to people following the evolution of contemporary design, above all within that more learned, poetic and visionary area shifting between production and contemporary art. Nina Yashar, the gallery founder, works with her sister Nilu and a team of five people. Nilufar took part in several editions of Pavillon des Arts et du Design in Paris and is always present at Design Miami/Basel. Nilufar has its own small manifesto, composed of three words: Discovering, Crossing, Creating. Discovering Novecento is the century of design, a source of extraordinary stories and objects which will be dealt with again for a long time, waiting just for the right time to come out of the oblivion. According to Nilufar's vision, modern antique dealing is an old definition. It is necessary to shift towards a less vague word, searching for names, projects, schools, manufactures, countries making history and deserving to be proposed again. Crossing The history of taste is a never-ending exercise of decomposition and re-composition, just like a kaleidoscope... This continuous joining together of pieces and traditions houses an open eye, heedless of labels, able to cross fences created by time, geography and cultural matrixes, aware that assonances and contrasts can be two sides of the same coin. This is the idea of Crossings, the name of two successful exhibitions Nilufar held in 1999 and 2000, a true invitation to build new visions of the world, being far more personal and freer. Creating Milan is an interesting lab and a privileged point to observe the euphoric and restless scene of design. Nilufar gives life to projects, editions, site-specific shows and publications, working both with great masters and emerging authors. Nilufar is operating in the scouting of new talents. Creating means bringing about occasions, sparkles. It means also obtaining new spaces and filling them with value for the future. Here in Italy we know how to do it: Renaissance was born here!

Necklace, the glass pendant light designed by Andrea Mancuso for Nilufar Edition, begins from the language of jewelry. Three glass elements hang together like stones set on a chain: a red flattened sphere, an amber elongated ellipse, a small pearl-white sphere. Each has its own shape and its own color, and it is in the dialogue between them that the lamp takes form. Light passes through the glass and brings to the space the quiet, decorative presence of a precious object, the same care with which we choose the gems and metals we wear. Moving fluidly between handwork and industrial fabrication, Flora Lechner’s (Flora Manon Lechner) objects explore tension without becoming rigid, maintaining a sense of lightness, clarity, and attention to detail. Her practice dwells in oppositions, rather than resolving it, keeping form and material open, light and precise.

The Stamen Light table lamp takes floral anatomy as its symbolic and structural starting point. Delicate, branching elements are multiplied and reassembled into complex formations that suggest growth, repetition and transformation. The Compound Umbel ceiling lamp draws on Daucus carota, the wild carrot. Its lace-like geometry is multiplied into formations that oscillate between organic growth and constructed system.

Through material and form, opposing qualities coincide: organic and technical, soft and hard, intuition and engineering. Industrial materials and mechanical components are shaped into delicate, floral or bodily forms, objects that resist fixed readings and hover between decorative presence and functional use.

At Nilufar Via della Spiga, a renewed selection unfolds through light, material and contrast, offering a new reading of its intimate interiors. Antique, vintage and contemporary works come together beyond chronology, connected instead by texture, proportion and atmosphere.

Unexpected affinities emerge as expressions of artisanal mastery coexist with more radical gestures. Layered through shifts in scale, surface and colour, they shape the character of the Milanese salon: an ever-evolving design destination with a distinctive perspective on collectible design across eras.

Georges Mohasseb (Georges Mohasseb) is among the Lebanese designers whose work has found a place on the international collectible design scene. Trained as an architect and later at École Boulle in Paris, he has led Studio Manda in Beirut since 2011, developing functional sculpture where nature, material and craft meet.

At Nilufar Depot, he presents the Cactus collection, his first collaboration with Nilufar. The starting point is the cactus and its capacity to endure in hostile environments: rather than reproducing the plant, the pieces translate its resilience into sculptural forms that speak of protection and organic growth. Recycled marble and limestone particles are mixed with resin and cast in 3D-printed moulds, so that each surface emerges unique, close to the irregular textures of a mineral landscape.

The collection was developed with the artisans of Manda Workshops (Studio Manda) and Matterlab (matterlab).

Founded in Dubai by Stefania Digregorio and Mirko Sala Tenna, Etereo (Etereo | Architecture & Design & Emotion) brings together Italian design culture and a Middle Eastern sensibility, shaping a practice where material research, craftsmanship and historical reference converge.

The Imago series, unveiled during Milan Design Week 2026, distills this identity into a sofa and armchair conceived to be read from multiple perspectives.

Burl wood, bronze and velvet meet Pol Polloniato’s glazed ceramic, creating a richly tactile composition. A new chromatic variation of the Faraglioni collection completes the picture, turning the narrative towards Mediterranean references. Echoing Capri’s sculptural coastline, this low table pairs cast bronze with fused glass, its rippling surface capturing the movement of the sea.

The final week to experience Orbita (orbitacollectible) the itinerant project conceived by Etereo (Etereo | Architecture & Design & Emotion) at Palazzo Ca’ Donà in Venice, on view until 3 October.

Nilufar brings to Venice a selection that places different eras and languages in dialogue, within a historic palazzo overlooking the Grand Canal. The rooms become eclectic environments where authors and styles meet, echoing Venice’s history as a crossroads of trade and cultures.

Nilufar was founded in Milan in 1979 by Nina Yashar () and has always been guided by the motto discovering, crossing, creating. With Orbita it takes its research beyond its usual spaces, into a palazzo still in transformation, in dialogue with a new audience and a new context.

On view at Nilufar Depot, a selection of works by Osanna Visconti (Osanna Visconti di Modrone) offers a compendium of her collections, united by the ancient art of lost-wax casting. Trained in jewelry, she draws her forms from nature and shapes them in wax by hand before casting them in bronze.

Leaves unfold in relief across the Foglie coffee table, the Bambù chair recalls the graceful texture of bamboo stalks, and the Rovi floor lamp turns from the petals of the rose to its thorns, a quiet emblem of strength. Tradition enters the same vocabulary: the Paglia di Vienna table translates the classic cane weave into white bronze, while the Bubble lamp sets Murano blown glass on a sculpted base. Completing the ensemble, a dining table with a black-patinated top reveals the depth and subtle variations of the metal.

Crafted in Italy, each piece holds Visconti’s dual sensibility as artisan and artist, where beauty meets function and the fleeting is made to endure.

Throughout his work, Andrea Branzi (Andrea Branzi) challenged the idea of design as a self-contained object, opening it instead to architecture, nature, memory and the symbolic dimension of everyday life. An approach that resonates with Nilufar’s curatorial practice, where objects are continuously reframed through relationships, unexpected associations and changing spatial contexts.

From the totemic presence of Grandi Legni to the lighter structures of Diagrammi, Branzi’s work moves across materials, scales and functions, dissolving the boundaries between matter and environment, natural and artificial, utility and contemplation.

This long-standing dialogue continues today, with one of Nilufar’s Grandi Legni featured in the exhibition Andrea Branzi by Toyo Ito: Continuous Present at Triennale Milano, while a selection of his works retraces a practice conceived as an open and continuously evolving system.

The final week to visit Nilufar’s exhibition with Iria Degen (Iria Degen Interiors AG) at House of Interiors (House of Interiors) during Zurich Design Week.

“Zurich felt like the right place to bring different sensibilities into dialogue,” says Nina Yashar. “I was interested in building a series of environments that feel connected but never repetitive — each one has its own rhythm, its own balance.”

Across the installation, Nilufar Edition, vintage and contemporary design pieces coexist within a fluid landscape, reflecting Nilufar’s way of working with design as a curatorial language — instinctive yet grounded in research, and open to unexpected encounters.

Nilufar presents Le Pied-à-Terre Cosmopolite at its renowned Via della Spiga venue, where the dining area is anchored by the Hexa table by Marco Lavit (Marco LAVIT) in collaboration with Azimut Design (Azimut Design) exploring a new frontier in material innovation.

Crafted in amber epoxy resin and aluminum honeycomb, the piece emerges from an advanced research process that structurally integrates the two elements into a single composite material. Known for its hexagonal cellular structure, honeycomb offers exceptional strength and lightness. Encased through a controlled epoxy casting process, the structure becomes stabilized and luminous, revealing metallic reflections and warm amber tones.

The result is a surface that appears almost liquid, where technical precision and material depth merge into a refined architectural presence.
