Giuseppe Lo Schiavo turns the horizon into a threshold between the real and the imagined.

Framed within a circular opening, the sea appears both familiar and strangely suspended, as if observed from somewhere that does not quite exist. The work plays with perception, using an image we instinctively recognize to create a space that feels just beyond reach.

Lennart Grau’s paintings begin with the visual language of art history, only to loosen it from its original form.

Figures emerge through layers of color, gesture, and movement, suspended somewhere between recognition and abstraction. Familiar references are stretched, softened, and reconfigured until the image seems to shift before the eye.

Here, the body is never entirely fixed. It dissolves into its surroundings, allowing color and surface to carry as much weight as the figure itself.

On view as part of Dreaming in Daylight at Plan X Capri.

In “London to Capri 3”, Asif Hoque transforms the winged lion into a figure of passage, suspended between myth and the present, the real and the imagined. Through saturated colour and fluid brushwork, a familiar archetype is removed from any fixed narrative and given a new, immediate presence.

The painting is one of three works created during the artist’s residency in London for “Dreaming in Daylight” now on view at Plan X Capri.

Dreaming in Daylight considers imagination as a force capable of acting upon reality. It does not replace or deny the visible world, but shifts it, expands it, and opens it to new forms.

Bringing together works by Giuseppe Lo Schiavo ['skjavo]] , Lennart Grau , and Asif Hoque 🤎 , the exhibition begins with recognizable elements such as figures, landscapes, animals, and references to art history, which are transformed through painting, digital construction, and invention.
Dreaming in daylight means imagining while remaining within the present. It means observing how reality can change when shaped by desire, memory, and fantasy.
Across different languages, the three artists approach the image as a space of possibility. Not as the representation of a world already given, but as a place where the world can take on new forms.
