BUILDING, in the heart of Milan, has been created with the aim of exploring aspects of artistic enquiry and weaving a texture made up of different forms of expression. It is an exhibition space that will host visual, performing and applied arts, installations and design. BUILDING’s purpose is not just to highlight the work of well-known international figures, but also to dedicate space to ad hoc projects involving emerging talents

BUILDING nel cuore di Milano è stato concepito allo scopo di esplorare aspetti delle ricerche visive, tendendo all'idea di una possibile texture tra linguaggi differenti; un luogo progettato per esposizioni, che ospiterà arti visive, performative e applicate, installazioni e design. GALLERY is pleased to present “Testimoni”, a solo exhibition by Georgian artist Sophie Ko (Tbilisi, 1981) – represented by the gallery – curated by Federico Ferrari.

📌Opening: Tuesday, October 13th, 2026, from 5.00PM to 8.30PM

Six years after her participation in the exhibition “Materie, Spazi, Visioni”, BUILDING dedicates a major solo show to the artist, presenting a comprehensive overview of her graphic, painterly, sculptural, and installation work across the gallery’s three exhibition floors.

On this occasion, Sophie Ko presents to the public, for the first time, a corpus of approximately sixty works, that explore the themes and artistic languages that characterize her work.

Sophie Ko’s practice is complex, aimed at a radical engagement with the tradition of art history, made possible by an extremely refined formal approach, and capable of combining exquisitely detailed work with materials and a delicate, almost ascetic poetics. The previously unseen works presented in the exhibition spaces of BUILDING GALLERY mark the culmination of a journey that began fifteen years ago with the first “Geografie temporali”.

Last few days to visit the exhibition “Chasing Rainbows”, a solo exhibition by Chiara Gambirasio curated by Giulia Bortoluzzi

📍BUILDING TERZO PIANO, Milan

The main body of works on display consists of new artworks created by Gambirasio following her artist residency in Iceland (Herusið), which took place from February 26th to April 1st, 2026. Beginning as a “hunt for rainbows” and ephemeral atmospheric phenomena—capable of inspiring awe for their beauty and unpredictability—the artist’s expedition gradually evolved into a more intimate journey of exploration. From an investigation of extrinsic forms of interiorization, such as iridescence, to the practice of contemplation, and finally to the exploration of an intimate and personal space of light.

The experience of living surrounded by the white of the snow has, in fact, reversed the chase for the fleeting and ephemeral sign, inviting the artist to pause and delve into her own emotional depths. The time she would normally have spent waiting has thus been transformed into a generative time—a time of listening and observation, an active time of possibility and spontaneity.

Last day to visit the solo show “Vincenzo Castella. Timeless Archaeology”, curated by Marco Scotini, on view at GALLERY.

The exhibition, which unfolds across the three exhibition floors of BUILDING GALLERY, brings together for the first time a cohesive body of around sixty large and medium format photographic works, offering a comprehensive and layered reading of the artist’s research on the industrial landscape from the 1980s to the present. Through a selection of previously unseen works spanning four decades of activity, the exhibition conveys the continuity and distinctiveness of Castella’s research, exploring the processes of transformation in the landscape and visual memory.

In this installation, conceived specifically for BUILDING BOX, thread becomes a medium through which to stitch together image, memory, word, and absence.
The work consists of a large environmental tapestry in which photography, silk, satin, embroidery, poster paper, and brass coexist with a terracotta vase.

The starting point is a vernacular photograph depicting a rocking chair and a vase of flowers on a small table: an anonymous image, like those preserved in family photo albums.
Picariello rescues it from anonymity and subjects it to a series of transformations, making it appear in different contexts: in black and white on transparent pink silk; on satin through a recoloring process that draws on ancient photographic techniques; and, finally, in relation to a third silk surface on which the work’s title appears embroidered, using the image’s negative printed on blueback paper.

The thread does not erase the separation but makes it visible, and as he himself explains, “the aim is to invite reflection on absence—not as a void, but as a place of sedimentation and transformation—in continuity with a practice that uses the image as a tool for exploring time, memory, and human experience.”

9/12. Sissi “Nidi” (2026)

Each element is defined first and foremost by its own void, and the deep central cavities subtract matter to transform it into presence, becoming the symbolic fulcrum of the entire composition. What might appear to be a tear or a wound is instead revealed as a generative space. From these openings emerges an unexpected explosion of color: reds, blues, yellows, greens, oranges, and purples form a sort of venous system that evokes the human body. According to this principle, sewing, embroidery, and weaving are not merely technical processes, but cognitive practices through which thought takes shape.

“Nidi” can therefore be interpreted as a reflection on the emergence of form and on the processual nature of inhabiting. The nest is not depicted as a finished object, but as a constructive device in a state of constant becoming.

Taking Vincenzo Castella’s exhibition “Timeless Archaeology”as their starting point, the speakers will reflect on industrial landscapes as a form of active memory of the present, exploring photography as a medium capable of connecting perception, space, and historical consciousness. Castella’s images, freed from a purely documentary function, invite a form of slowed-down vision, in which every object becomes an embodied experience, a material archive, and a construction of thought.

The exploration thus examines the relationship between the body and perception, the urban and architectural transformation of industrial areas, and, finally, the specific nature of the photographic language—encompassing detail, scale, and seriality. What emerges is a conception of photography as an archaeological practice, capable of discerning, within the forms of the present, the stratifications of a time still unfolding, where matter, work, memory, and representation continue to overlap.

TERZO PIANO presents an ongoing journey of exploration that unfolds between two complementary polarities: from the open space of a larger, brighter area—where absolute lightness manifests as the breath of a rainbow—to a more intimate space, where one can immerse oneself to perceive intimacy as a vibrant refraction of darkness. Once completed, the journey can begin again where it started: in the light.
