Vadehra Art Gallery (VAG) has promoted modern and contemporary Indian art through exhibitions, retrospectives, publications and educational programs since 1987. Since its inception in 1987, Vadehra Art Gallery has promoted contemporary Indian art through exhibitions, retrospectives, publications and educational programs. In addition to promoting the visibility of both recognized and underground Indian artists, we have also initiated an education non-profit organization called the Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art (FICA) where you can use our reading room and bookstore full of art books and products. We have many gallery spaces in New Delhi, and we also have a gallery in London called Grosvenor Vadehra.

Works by our artist 𝗟𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗠𝘂𝗸𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗷𝗲𝗲 are on view in 𝙈𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙞 𝙈𝙪𝙠𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙟𝙚𝙚: 𝙐𝙣𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙨 – 𝙒𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙥𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘽𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙝 at 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗽𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱, 𝗨𝗞 (The Hepworth Wakefield).

The exhibition presents the work of Mrinalini Mukherjee alongside pioneering women sculptors Leela Mukherjee, Meera Mukherjee, Novera Ahmed and Pilloo Pochkhanawala, exploring the practices of a generation of women artists who shaped the histories of modern sculpture in South Asia.

We are pleased to share installation views of our booth at 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘇𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

Returning to the fair for the fifth year in a row, our presentation includes a curated selection of artworks by 𝗔𝘁𝘂𝗹 𝗗𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘆𝗮, 𝗦𝘂𝗱𝗵𝗶𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗵𝗮𝗻, 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗹 𝗚𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗮, 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗮𝗷 𝗗𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘆𝗮 and 𝗭𝗮𝗮𝗺 𝗔𝗿𝗶𝗳.

Bringing together contemporary painting and photography from South Asian and South Asian diasporic artists, the presentation engages with cultural inheritance, social inequity and ideological realities, reflecting on the shifting socio-political landscape of the modern world.

A further look at 𝙄𝙣 𝘼𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙈𝙤𝙙𝙚: 𝙎𝙪𝙙𝙝𝙞𝙧 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙝𝙖𝙣’𝙨 𝘿𝙧𝙖𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 1970–2000, curated by 𝗥. 𝗦𝗶𝘃𝗮 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿, at our D-53 Defence Colony gallery space.

Bringing together over 200 drawings spanning three decades of Sudhir Patwardhan’s early career, the exhibition begins with works from 1971, when the artist was enrolled in medical college while also practising as a radiologist.

The exhibition foregrounds Patwardhan’s enduring engagement with the human figure and the shifting landscapes of urban life, as seen through an extensive body of works on paper drawn from memory and images.

Congratulations to our artist 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐚𝐣 𝐃𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐲𝐚 (biraaj dodiya) on being selected for the sixth edition of the 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐦 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐥, 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙊𝙪𝙩𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨!⭐️

Dodiya is among 36 artists and collectives from 34 countries featured in this edition. Curated by Vivian Crockett and Isabella Rjeille, the exhibition opens on 4 February 2027 at the New Museum in New York.

We are delighted to share that Sunil Gupta’s (Sunil Gupta) major survey exhibition 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐥 𝐆𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐚: 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚, 𝟏𝟗𝟕𝟎 - 𝐍𝐨𝐰, is on view at Kettle’s Yard (Kettle's Yard) in Cambridge, UK.

For over five decades, Sunil Gupta has used photography to make visible the lives, intimacies and experiences of q***r communities. 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘢 brings together more than 130 works from Gupta’s expansive practice, tracing his journeys between Delhi, Montreal, New York and London, where he has made his home for decades.

We are pleased to announce our returning participation at 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐳𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧 (Frieze) with a presentation of five artists across two generations.

Our presentation brings together painting and documentary photography by artists Atul Dodiya (Atul Dodiya), Sudhir Patwardhan, Sunil Gupta (Sunil Gupta), Biraaj Dodiya (biraaj dodiya) and Zaam Arif (Zaam Arif).

Their practices engage with cultural inheritance, social inequity and ideological realities, braiding themes from philosophy and populism to explore the socio-political shifts and existential ambiguities of the modern city through different artistic registers.

We are pleased to share that works by our artists Nalini Malani and Arpita Singh are currently on view in the exhibition 𝑮𝒍𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝑷𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎 at Hayy Jameel, Jeddah (Jameel Arts Centre; Art Jameel فن جميل).

Curated by Indranjan Banerjee (Indranjan) and Lucas Morin (Lucas Morin), 𝑮𝒍𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝑷𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎 is a two-part exhibition that brings together explorations on mapping, navigation, movement, and the infrastructures that shape how we experience space. Moving beyond maps as instruments of power, the exhibition considers uncertainty, interruption, and friction as ways of questioning systems of mobility, orientation, and our ideas of space and progress.

Across Gulammohammed Sheikh’s practice, Gandhi returns as an enduring figure through whom the artist reflects on community, coexistence, and the possibilities of coming together. Having embraced the worldly and the spiritual with natural ease, and striven to bring communities together, Gandhi became a recurring symbol in Sheikh’s practice and artistic ideology.

For Sheikh, this presence is part of a larger inquiry into how art might imagine and build the world as a place of hope, solidarity, and possibility. On Gandhi Jayanti, we reflect on these ideas and their continued relevance to our understanding of community and the nation.
