To Die A Frenchman
Opening screening of INTERRUPTIONS

In the crumbling neighbourhood of Ville Noir (in Pondicherry), where French street names fade into dust and memories of empire linger like ghosts, seventy-year-old Monsieur Mounissamy lives as a relic of a world that no longer exists.

The film by Pankaj Rishi Kumar explores how decolonization, neo-colonialism, and forced redefinitions of belonging continues to echo across generations. This story (shot over 5 years) compels us to confront how political power reshapes personal destiny in ways still insufficiently acknowledged.

Date: 27th September,

What does it mean to hold an identity that is deeply cherished, yet constantly questioned?

Join us at Conflictorium for an artist talk with Parizad D whose work looks closely at Parsi identity and the challenges that surround the community. Through her practice, she unwraps the stories, tensions and everyday negotiations that shape how a community sees itself and how it is seen by others.
Come with your questions, your curiosity, and your own stories of belonging. The conversation is open to everyone.

RAIPUR

A folk musical night with Aruna Khalkho

As we are dabbling in memories of land and losses this month, we are joined by Aruna Khalkho, tribal singer and songwriter, who has grown up with the songs sung by her grandmother and mother, around life that was once deeply connected with the cycle of surrounding plants, harvest and seasons.

This musical evening is open to all. If you love singing, come sing with us! Bring a song, a story. Let’s be all ears this Sunday.

Date: 20th September
Time: 5:00 PM
Venue: Conflictorium, Raipur

RAIPUR

We begin our Public Dialogue Series, with big hopes, to attend to our protected ignorance and an enforced distance from jal—the essential stream of life, jungle—thriving for centuries, now cut as per use, and zameen— now known as ‘so-and-so-priced land’.

Join us for Let us ask together where it is that we are headed by ignoring these building blocks of life as we know it, mistaking rights for ownership, resourcefulness for extractability, merging progress with development.

How do we remember our relationship with land, forests, and water?

In conversation with:

Lav Manjhi — Adivasi artist, researcher, and development practitioner from Chhattisgarh.

Dr. Bhenu — Indigenous archaeologist specialising in field archaeology, ethno-archaeology, and tribal studies.

Date: 19th September, 2026
Venue: Conflictorium, Raipur

RAIPUR

We are revamping one of our most beloved permanent exhibit, Memory Jars, to help us take the Public Dialogue Series be more participatory.

We invite you (secretly, urge you) to make some time, come, relax, and sit with your thoughts and questions about your connection with the land, space, forests and the very many threads of our ecosystem. Also ask, if, when and how it was severed.

Some snippets of Barefoot Curators Fellowship’s first residency, which happened between 19th to 22nd August.

All the fellows met each other for the first time, and the four days were spent moving around, thinking, asking questions and learning to sit with the absence of immediate and easy answers.

We look forward to meeting again, hatching up new ways to think, observe, ideate, and to make space.

Ahmedabad
When we designed *Navigating The Grey*, we wanted to create a space where we could pause with uncertainty, rather than rush to resolve it.

We wanted to see what happens when we move beyond talking about our experiences and allow the body to communicate through movement, gesture, silence, and presence.

And then, in the room, we heard:

“... feel gratitude for a space where I was able to sit comfortably with the Grey areas that we hold within ourselves.”

“... stepping into the vulnerabilities of individual struggles came almost naturally.”

“... it gave me insights into perspectives on how one looks at the world itself.”

“... and left with a much-needed vantage point in my own relationship with uncertainty.”

We left with questions too. And, as one participant put it, “... felt a strange peace with taking up time to breathe and sit with the feelings.”

Thank you to everyone who co-created this space with such openness, curiosity and generosity, and made that Sunday afternoon what it became. We’re really grateful we got to experience it with you.
