Established in 1991, Kwai Fung Hin has developed into a cultural force of repute through its history

Established in 1991, Kwai Fung Hin has developed into a cultural force of repute in Hong Kong through its long and distinguished history of advancing artistic exchange between the East and West. With a dynamic network consisting of a highly-regarded art gallery, consultancy, publishing house, lithograph publisher and cultural foundation, over three decades we have launched over 160 gallery exhibitions, 13 institutional exhibitions, 52 catalogues and monographs, and 133 series of lithographs, earning a reputation for our particular expertise in 20th century modern art and Asian contemporary art. We have worked with and supported a dynamic roster of over one hundred artists, including Zao Wou-Ki, Lalan, Li Huayi, Pan Gongkai and Ai Xuan, whose extensive cultural experiences and global perspectives bridge the West and the East in fresh and remarkable ways. These artists have brought new dimensions to the canon of art history with their radical and uncompromising visions, overturning centuries-old traditions and ushering in a new era of artistic development. Now in our fourth decade, we continue in our eorts:
- to promote East-West artistic dialogue;
- to support our artists and share their visionary work with audiences around the world through institutional collaborations and innovative cultural initiatives; and
- to devote ourselves to developing educational opportunities and promoting dialogue within the artistic community in the city of Hong Kong and beyond.

💭At first glance, Li Huayi’s ink on paper works command attention with their monumental presence, evoking the powerful tensions. Look closer and an intricate world unfolds, revealing astonishingly delicate, hair-fine brushwork.

🏔️It is in the interplay between these extremes — the grandeur of the whole and the precision of each individual stroke — that Li achieves a remarkable synthesis of traditional Chinese ink aesthetics and a contemporary sensibility. His landscapes transcend the physical world, drawing viewers into a deep realm of quiet majesty, and nature becomes an invitation to contemplation.

⛰️ Born in Shanghai in 1948 and immigrated to United States since 1982, after years of exploration for Chinese and western art movements , Li Huayi is inspired with literati painting from Northern Sung and the spirit of Chinese landscape painting in southern Sung , intergrating the concept of light and space from western art , he develops a very distinctive snd unique style with the Contemporary touch .

⭐️We are delighted to share that our represented artist Li Huayi is featured in “Legendary Landscapes: Sublime Visions from China’s Song Dynasty” at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City. The exhibition brings together rare Song Dynasty masterpieces alongside four contemporary landscape works selected for dialogue, including Li Huayi’s “Landscape” (2006).

💡And don’t forget, “Li Huayi: Unity of Man and Nature”—his first solo exhibition in Southeast Asia—is now open at Kwai Fung Hin Singapore. See you there!

✨Li Huayi’s first solo exhibition in Southeast Asia opened in Kwai Fung Hin Singapore yesterday!

⛰️This exhibition brought together 12 works from 2001 to 2024, offering a bird's-eye view of his major developments over three decades in pursuit of contemporaneity of ink painting.

🌹Our sincere thanks to all guests and our artist for joining us last night.

👉🏻The exhibition runs through 21 November 2026. Come and be awed by Li Huayi’s silent grandeur.

🏔️Inspired by the monumental landscapes of the Northern Song dynasty and the literati tradition of expressing inner truth through brushwork and composition, Li has developed a distinctive style that blends the spirit of traditional landscape painting with a contemporary sensibility. Through meticulous brushwork and detailed-oriented composition, he places viewers within the scene, creating an intimate spatial experience.

⛰️Featuring more than ten milestone works spanning three decades, from ink on paper to luminous gold and silver leaf paintings, the exhibition traces Li’s sustained reinvention of Chinese ink tradition through a contemporary sensibility. Drawing on Northern Song monumentality, literati aesthetics, and Western artistic approaches and material experimentation, Li's landscapes open an inner sanctuary for us to contemplate.

🏠This autumn, Kwai Fung Hin Hong Kong presents “In Search of Lost Time”, a group exhibition that invites you step into the comfort of home to relive the smallest, often overlooked details of the everyday. How much of our everyday life truly registers, and how much slips away, lost to the rush of contemporary life and constant distraction? This exhibition asks us to pause and recover the quiet beauty embedded in the ordinary.

💭Borrowing its title from Marcel Proust’s novel, the exhibition brings together twelve international artists, centering on their shared practice of attentive observation and sensory engagement, through which they explore how domestic interior and daily routine inform our inner lives, memories, and sense of belonging.
