【 #保良里程碑：保良局助養服務65周年💕】
保良局自1878年創局初期提供兒童住宿服務，為留局兒童提供適切照顧及教育。隨著1950年代香港人口激增📈，本局收容人數於1961年多達440多名婦孺，打破歷年紀錄。惟本局當年經常開支逾港幣50萬元，除港府津貼港幣約10萬元外，主要依賴總理及社會熱心人士捐款。
有見及此，當年主席發起「兒童助養計劃」，邀請有心善長捐款支持。每日只需一元💰，即可救助一名留局兒童。計劃推出後獲得社會各界熱烈響應。報章記載一名女傭到局即時交付全年助養費用，亦有熱心工友查詢可否由數人合力助養，體現了當時社會不分階層、共襄善舉的精神💖。
今年是保良局助養服務65周年，博物館將於9月下旬推出全新專題展覽「愛聚童心：保良局助養服務展覽」。透過檔案、書信、相片，回顧保良局過去65年的助養服務發展歷程。詳情稍後公佈，敬請期待🥰。

Po Leung K*k has provided residential child care services since 1878, ensuring K*k children receive care and education. Following the rapid population surge in the 1950s📈, the number of K*k children in our care reached a historic high of over 440 in 1961. At the time, the K*k's annual operating expenses exceeded HKD500,000. Beyond the government subsidy of around HKD100,000, the K*k relied heavily on donations from our Board of Directors and the public.
To bridge the gap, the then-Chairman launched the "Child Sponsorship Scheme," inviting donors to lend a hand. For just one dollar a day💰, individuals could support a K*k child. The community's response was overwhelming. The newspaper recorded that a maid visited the K*k to pay a year's sponsorship fee, while a group of workmen asked whether they could sponsor a child jointly, reflecting a spirit of philanthropy that transcended social class💖.
This year marks the 65th Anniversary of Po Leung K*k's child sponsorship service! The Museum will launch a brand-new thematic exhibition, "United By Love: Po Leung K*k Child Sponsorship Exhibition," in late September.
