There’s just over a week of the summer holidays left!

If the kids are starting to get a little bored, why not pop into Woodbridge Museum? There’s plenty to look at, plus our Family Area, Minnie the Mariner’s Cat Trail 🐈‍⬛, colouring and activities for younger visitors.

And keep an eye out for our resident donkey while you’re here🫏

We’re open every day during the school holidays from 10:30am to 4:30pm and admission is free.

Make the most of the last few days of summer and come and see us at Whisstock’s Place.

We have recently received a fascinating addition to the museum of the Seckford Archive.

Among the items is a wooden box of medical instruments and the base of the die once used to make badges for residents of the Seckford Almshouses. Both are now on display at the museum.

We only have one half of the badge die, so perhaps someone in Woodbridge or locally knows what happened to the other half?

The wider archive is now being catalogued and, once this work is complete, we hope to make it available for family history and other local research.

If you're enjoying a summer wander along the waterfront, why not pop in for a browse? We have books, gifts and souvenirs, with plenty of local interest.

A nice way to take a little bit of Woodbridge home with you – and every purchase helps support the museum.

Admission to the museum is free.
During the summer holidays we open every day 10:30-16:30.

There will be plenty of artists around Whisstock's Place and the River Deben this weekend as Suffolk Sketchfest gets underway.

If you're at the river enjoying the makers market, live music and creative atmosphere, why not pop into Woodbridge Museum?

Woodbridge Museum has launched a new series of illustrated local history booklets, exploring fascinating stories from the Woodbridge’s past.

The first titles are now on sale in the museum shop at a cost of £2.50 each. We hope you will find them interesting and all profits will go towards the costs of running Woodbridge Museum.

Our Children's Story Writing Competition is now open! The theme is 'The Mariner's Cat'.

Woodbridge Books are generously donating book tokens as prizes and will be judging the entries.

🧒 Ages 5–7 and 8–11
📖 Up to 300 words, handwritten or typed
✍️ Illustrations welcome
🐈 The Mariner’s Cat must appear in the story
🤖 No AI use please
📅 Entries close 5 September 2026

First prize (each category): £20 Woodbridge Books book token and cuddly cat
Second prize (each category): cuddly cat

Stories can be handed in at Woodbridge Museum or Woodbridge Books by 4.30pm on 5th September 2026. Winners will be notified on 19th September 2026.

We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Woodbridge to the Museum as part of the June edition of the Mayor's Monthly video.

In the film you can see the Mayor chatting with Martin, our Chair of Trustees, a glimpse of our wonderful volunteers at work, and some of the fascinating objects that help tell the story of Woodbridge.

A big thank you to the Mayor and Woodbridge Town Council for helping showcase the Museum and the people who make it such a special place.

Earlier this month we shared a photograph of the former Davy Crowe shop and asked if anyone could identify its location from the distinctive curved Juliet balcony.

Some of you recognised it straight away, and we were particularly pleased to hear from a great-granddaughter of the shop owner, who has a copy of the photograph hanging in her kitchen!

Here is a photo of the building taken recently. The balcony remains a familiar feature of Church Street.

Photographs like this remind us that local history is often much closer than we think.
