I was invited back to Malling Art Group for another teaching day. Our subject? This R**e Seed Field in Horsmonden. I selected this particular reference because I loved the inclusion of Kentish Oast houses, the sun drenched old church, the thick lustrous R**e crop, and the great opportunity to paint depth of field using a combination of wet-on-wet and wet on dry for either softness or sharp detail. It is this combination that gives the dimensional lustre of the flowering R**e and the gorgeous distance to the far off trees. Lots of fun techniques to explore and practice in the subject which makes it great for the combined abilities in a art group class. And the resulting artworks were absolutely stunning! Thank you for having me Malling Art Group! I hope you all enjoyed your day! For those that wish to know I painted on block - 300gms rough using a combination of , brushes and Frisk masking fluid.

Taught a fun little class about how to ‘read’ a reference image and then how to decide the paint process based on all the information. So often people really want to paint but don’t know where to begin, or talk themselves out of it because it looks too complicated. Reframing how you ‘see’ the reference image makes it so easy. So breaking down this process is one of the many things I teach my one-to-one students to build their visual capability, muscle memory and confidence. Because from there, anything is possible! So much fun to paint this zebra for practice and confidence building with my student.

Looking back on this soothing watercolour of Scotney Castle and enjoying the dreamy meditative colours and the slow placement of each detail.

Please note: ‘Art by Jennifer’ is a fraud.

It’s so disappointing that a tool such as ai can have such amazing possibilities if wielded by an honest person, and such catastrophic deception when wielded by a dishonest person.

Art by Jennifer is a thief. Plain and simple. He does not have the intelligence or talent to do this genuinely, so he steals from those that can.

It is my hope and prayer that honest people continue the development of ai into a more wholesome entity and find a way to expose and prosecute those who use it to steal or deceive. I hope that ai writes the legal case prosecuting them - and wins. Wouldn’t that be perfection if the very tool that enabled their dishonesty was the same tool that prosecuted them and put them in prison?! 😂👌🏻

In meantime we’ll just have to continue with the small but constant barrage of truth telling posts so that people learn that this is a scammer.

What an empty life these scammers must have, accepting praise for work that is not even theirs. They’re pitiful.

Please do not be taken in. Please help genuine artists to be recognised for their hard work, creating beautiful works of art. And please do not support, follow or enable rip off merchants like ‘art by Jennifer’.

This is called ‘model inversion’. You take a copyrighted image and run it through an AI tool (in this case Midjourney) and in just a few seconds you have generated a new [sellable] version which bypasses traditional copyright laws…

Painting my little heart out today. It’s such a meditative and restorative experience when I’m painting old local buildings. My happy place.

Had a fun day of teaching this watercolour painting at Malling art club.

Thank you to the original photographer of the reference photograph, Kelvin Blake who has kindly given permission for use.

A challenging subject, a few varied and challenging techniques used and quite a full class so there was a lot to do in the time. But everyone managed to grab some new skills, some hints and tips and leave with a great Poppy Field painting. Even if it was a bit rainy when we left, the cheerful painting made my heart happy. 😊 ❤️ 🌺🌾
