🇺🇲 ***MUSEUM UPDATE***🇬🇧
If all goes to plan, the team at Santa Pod Raceway hope to open a temporary museum display area inside an existing building later THIS YEAR!
That's right, that soon! Whilst the new facility will be under construction, visitors will be able to get a taste of the history and see some of the exhibits on display and learn more about the history of Fame's Favored Few at Station 109.

However, this is where we really need your help. Everyone who has pledged items for display, whether it be uniforms, photos, objects from the airfield PLEASE get in touch as soon as possible so we can get things moving. Either message on here directly or email [email protected]
There's a meeting next week to plan frames and cabinets for display items and the team are working with local fabrication companies to create frameworks to securely and safely display the larger items. Then there's the purchasing of mannequins, cabinets, lightning, high resolution display material... it is all horrendously expensive and we need YOUR help to tell the stories of these heroes. The Big Picture wall mural will be returning home at the end of the year, and a lot of people are working behind the scenes to make the homecoming event extra special.

Help! We're busy planning exhibits and displays with our friends at Santa Pod Raceway and we really need to boost our fundraising campaign. We have some very large and heavy exhibits that need to be safely preserved and presented, along with further purchases of secure cabinets and lighting for our fast growing collection of original jackets and personal items from the 92nd. Please if you can share the fundraising link and spare a small amount it all helps to contribute to what is becoming an incredibly special collection. Thank you 🇺🇸🇬🇧

On this Independence Day, we honor your service, courage, and the enduring legacy of those who flew and served with distinction. Wishing everyone a joyful, safe, and meaningful Fourth of July. What a tremendous day! We first headed out for a little road run with the AVG, enjoying some great company and seeing some fantastic vehicles along the way. We then made our way over to Santa Pod Raceway to hand over the items that Lloyd Richards has very generously donated to the museum project.

A brilliant day all round, with plenty of interest, good conversations, and more pieces of history returned to where they belong.🇺🇸🇬🇧🫡

Even though it was incredibly hot today, we still went and laid our wreath as part of the 92nd. Proud to stand together and pay our respects. 🌺🇺🇸🇬🇧🫡

***Volunteers Needed***

Unfortunately we have had to cancel our attendance at several amazing and very high profile events in the UK this summer due to no volunteers. It's such a shame that we can't continue to get the word out and raise the profile of the museum project and tell the stories of the 92nd to a larger audience.

We need good people to take the mobile displays to events, chat to the public, access the digital archives and help answer questions about the 92nd and wider 8th Air Force. You'll get access to some wonderful events, get to meet so many passionate people from other organisations and be able to lose yourself in the archives for hours.
