Once upon a time on South Street…

A small gallery in Wareham turned all of its lights back on, opened both its doors, and welcomed people in again.

Outside, the street was lined with independent businesses, each one a little piece of the town’s story.

Next door, ♥️ stood wrapped in very grand scaffolding – a sign of care, repair and a promise of good times to come 🐻.

Inside Grange Gallery, ‘Side by Side’ brought together the characterful worlds of Dorset’s Mandie Gillard and Amanda Popham – a collaboration of prints, textiles and ceramics filled with personality and a touch of magic.

Every person who stepped through the door, every kind word, every small purchase helped keep that story going – for the gallery, for the neighbours, for Wareham ♥️.

Now it’s your turn to be part of it.

Grange Gallery Access

Due to a structural issue at a neighbouring property, South Street from Trinity Lane has been closed to vehicles and pedestrians in the immediate area outside The Bear Hotel until further notice.

Grange Gallery remains OPEN as usual, Wednesday–Saturday, 10am–4pm. We are currently operating from our courtyard gallery only (the red brick building), with access via our courtyard entrance next to The Club - Wareham

Our current exhibition, ‘Side by Side’ by Mandie Gillard and Amanda Popham, featuring print, textiles and ceramics, continues until Saturday 17 October, with a curated selection of work by us and local artists and makers.

Pedestrian access to businesses on both sides of the closure on South Street is still possible, and we encourage visitors to continue supporting independent shops and local traders during this period.

There’s a lovely feel in the gallery right now.

In our respective studios and workshops, here and across Dorset, we and our artists and makers have been sanding oak, polishing silver, framing coastal views and unwrapping magical characters, curating exhibitions and displays – all to bring you a fresh new wave of work at Grange Gallery.

From our Oak wooden clocks and hanging decorations, to Adjoua Designs’ sterling silver pendants, to Sarah Hornby’s intimate ‘Afterlight’ seascapes and cards, to Cathy Veale’s luminous coastal watercolour prints… every piece carries a story of time and highly skilled making.

Step into ‘Side by Side’ (7–17 October) and you’ll also find the characterful worlds of Mandie Gillard and Amanda Popham in print, textile and ceramics – an exhibition full of personality and quiet magic.

Side by side, and absolutely spellbinding ✨

Our ‘Side by Side’ exhibition by Mandy Gillard and Amanda Popham has had the most magical start – thank you to everyone who’s already come in, lingered over the character-filled works and shared your favourites with us.

From wildly imaginative prints to expressive textiles and ceramics, every piece feels like stepping into a story.

The exhibition continues until Saturday 17 October.

Don’t miss: a chance to meet illustrator, printmaker and textile artist Mandie Gillard here at Grange Gallery on Saturday 10 October, 11am–1pm – hear the stories behind her characters and discover her stitch and print techniques up close.

Imagine stepping into two different creative worlds in one visit.

Today, ‘Side by Side’ opens at Grange Gallery. In the front gallery, Esme & Jason display their own art, homeware, furniture, jewellery and gifts, curated alongside work from some of the most talented local artists and makers.

The courtyard gallery, from 7–17 Oct, another story unfolds: ‘Side by Side’ brings together the wildly imaginative characters of illustrator, printmaker and textile artist Mandie Gillard with the distinctive ceramics of Amanda Popham. Their work sits together in conversation – playful, curious and full of personality.

You can even meet Mandie in person on Sat 10 Oct, 11am–1pm at our Meet the Maker event – a chance to hear the stories behind her characters in stitch and print.

From one magical world to another…

A huge thank you to everyone who came to Laura’s Textisle ‘Mapping the Land’ exhibition. If you didn’t make it, a handpicked selection of Laura’s beautiful work is still available to view in the gallery and online.

Tomorrow we open ‘Side by Side’ (7–17 Oct): a vibrant new exhibition pairing the playful, characterful creations of both Amanda Popham, ceramics and illustrator, print maker and textile artist Mandie Gillard.

Sculptural Ceramics by David Pointer, we are pleased to welcome some new works to the gallery. They are now on display and available to purchase at Grange Gallery. Today’s the day to wander, browse and fall in love with something locally handcrafted.

We’re open 10am–4pm with both gallery spaces ready to explore.

Front gallery: art, ceramics, homeware, furniture, jewellery & gifts designed and made by us (Esme & Jason) plus beautiful work by celebrated local artists and makers.

Courtyard gallery: ‘Mapping the Land’ continues until Sat 3 Oct, featuring intricate fabric and thread artworks by Laura’s Textisle, alongside fine furniture by Jason Cameron and ceramics by David Pointer.

Soon this space will be transformed for our next exhibition, ‘Side by Side’, opens Wed 7 Oct, bringing together the wildly imaginative worlds of Mandie Gillard (illustration, print & stitch) and Amanda Popham (ceramics).
