Dolly Parton was one of the greatest singer songwriters and philanthropists to have ever lived. An amazing lady with so much compassion, drive, humour and talent. RIP Dolly, the world has lost a true icon and legend 💔

Thame Museum Volunteers joined us for a Midsomer Walking Tour this afternoon. A fantastic opportunity for the volunteers to enjoy an afternoon off and see Thame as a visitor and learn more about Causton! Sadly we didn't bump into Inspector Barnaby, he must have been busy with his latest investigation!

🏛From 6th-10th July we welcomed 360 Year 7 students from Lord Williams as part of their ACE week (Alternative Curriculum Experience).

🔉We had some wonderful feedback from the students including this drawing of the museum's Carousel which is on display in the main gallery...
"I think the Carousel 🎠 represents Thame because it shows the way that people in Thame work hard to create something fabulous".

📢Other students comments and observations about the museum's various artefacts included...

🔹️"It's a reminder that real people lived real lives."

🔸️"My Gran gave me a book of Alice in Wonderland and it was really old, like from the 1960’s."

🔹️First student: "Is it a China doll?"
Second student: "No I think it’s from England"!

🔸️️Looking at the farmers smock… "It shows you people still wanted to look nice even though they had to work hard’.

📱And another student asked about the aerial shot of Barley Hill and did people have mobile phones then. We said we did but not smart phones and they were more basic.
She commented "How could they take a photo if they didn’t have a phone?!"

Other things that generated a lot of interest were the bone crusher, the gas masks, the tools, the pram and the shoes.

We look forward to next year's ACE week. In the meantime bring your children into visit Thame Museum they'll love it.❤️

Thame Museum will be hosting on 5th Sept an audience with Andrew Môn Hughes & Grant Walters, the authors of the triology Bee Gees - Decades ...
📖 DECADES: The Bee Gees in the 1960s
📖 DECADES: The Bee Gees in the 1970s
📖 DECADES: The Bee Gees in the 1980s

🔈Thame Museum, home of The Official Robin Gibb Gallery...join us via LIVESTREAM, watch & listen to the authors as they talk about their latest book Decades: The Bee Gees in the 1980s”.🎶

🎤In the words of Andrew Môn Hughes & Grant Walters; "this is the first true deep dive into The Bee Gees’ 1980s journey from start to finish, with track-by-track narrative for all Bee Gees material, Andy’s work, solo projects, production work for other artists, and everything in between. We have brand new interviews with co-producers Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson, engineer Dennis Hetzendorfer, and Joe Mardin (son of Arif Mardin), among others. Once again, Spencer Gibb has supplied us with a fantastic, reflective foreword."

Their latest book DECADES: The Bee Gees in the 1980s is the biggest book in the series yet. Due for release in the UK in June.

In the words of the publisher: “It’s a beast!”

The Bee Gees’ 1980s story is one of chart hits, major collaborations, solo projects, film work, and reinvention – yet it’s a period that has often been overlooked. This book changes that, packed with detail, new insights and extensive research, this is the most in-depth examination of the group’s 1980s career ever.
