All these works are part of our Spring Exhibition, ‘Passages’ and are available both online and in the shop. From the repurposed vintage book covers used in Katie Mawson’s works, to the grainy surface of Jasper Cheng’s ‘Redwoods’ that evokes the texture of old films, there is a little something special in the character and texture of each of these works.

Turn End is one of three Grade II listed houses built in the 1960s by architect Peter Aldington - one of the few postwar houses at this grade. The houses are unique in their modern construction but also distinctly traditional feel. Made of wood, concrete block and glass, the buildings ensconce a garden that is a masterpiece in its own right.

Turn End trust runs open days and events throughout the year, including gardening and design lessons.

We are so excited to announce our next exhibition, ‘Passages’ which will bring together four artists - Jasper Cheng, Katie Mawson, Carol Douglas and Vivien Thomason - all working with paint and textiles. The show will run from March 31st to April 28th, and our opening night will be held on April 4th.

The works in this show consider the different passages we are led through as we enter the realms of imagination and representation. These artists all sense, in their own way, a fluctuating relationship between the physical and the metaphysical. Their works open doorways of perception and curiosity.

As a gallery we are led by a curatorial ethos that values artwork we believe is on some level spiritually nourishing, that does not shy away from sincerity, and that will make you feel better in the space you are in. We embrace art that feels thoughtful, candid and authentic, all whilst provoking feelings of wonder, mystery and presence in us. Truths and certainties are not fully alighted on, instead they are earnestly explored. Our golden thread in this exhibition - passages - hints at the importance of this striving. Our Spring Exhibition will be a special opportunity to see these original artworks in person, and we look forward to sharing our unique aesthetic vocabulary with you.

A gorgeous country kitchen via - reminding me of what Coco Chanel said about fashion: before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off. I think the same can be said for home styling! What objects are really serving you and your space? When you take one thing off, it can really allow for a centrepiece - such as this painting - to shine!
