What a lovely afternoon we had at the annual Regency Picnic on Box Hill. People travelled from far and near to join in the fun, many in beautiful costumes perfect to celebrate that era. Picnic blankets were spread on the ground, champagne was poured as well as tea, and everyone joined in the ambience.
After our traditional stroll to the viewpoint for a photos, we enjoyed listening to highlights from the chapter in Jane Austen's 'Emma' that describes a picnic at Box Hill. But there were no jibes at our picnic, our conversations were full of good humour!
Dug, the Museum's mole mascot, had a well-earned rest after his archaeology dig at the Fetcham Springs Roman Baths. He brought his explorer friend Digby along to enjoy the spectacular views from Box Hill.
