Charlotte Baxter | Blind Embossing and Linocut

Charlotte Baxter lead a thoroughly enjoyable workshop over the weekend at SPW, imparting her knowledge and experience of relief printing. Participants used a variety of tools to cut away and reveal the image from the block, providing the opportunity to work intuitively to add texture. We then printed the carved blocks in succession, altering the colour and transparency of the ink in response to the previous layers to give the desired effect. Hard work but rewarding, lots of learning taking place! An excellent workshop!

For the last twelve years, printmaker Veronica Calarco, has been making baskets from her (and other printmakers) discarded prints. When she started, Veronica only meant to make a few but twelve years later she has made over 1000 baskets and created many different installations using the baskets.

Join us for the Closing Celebration of our tremendous drawing, stained glass and sculpture exhibition "In These Stones"

Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and an informal chat with artists Rosie Scribblah and Deanne Mangold between 10:30 to 12:30, with all proceeds from the event being donated to Prostate Cancer UK

The session will be followed by a FREE afternoon Heritage Talk on the history and technique of stained glass and printmaking.
