GS Artists founded 9to90 Creative Community 8 years ago in a response to who asked us to host a community exhibition and handle it with the respect and care that it deserved - with good lighting, professional framing and hanging.

9to90 started as a series of workshops in the autumn, devised so that participants could create entries for an annual competition and exhibition. As part of this, we introduced the now legendary ‘Paint a Portrait’ competition, and over the years the artists of Swansea have immortalised the likes of Michael Sheen; Catherine Zeta Jones, Bonnie Tyler, Rhys Ifans, Rob Brydon …..

Responding to feedback we took the workshops to weekly events in 2022, and over the last years the group has grown in strength and identity. We've collaborated with a number of organisations local to ourselves as well as hosted Craft Fairs as well as attended others with a strong 9to90 presence.

It's fair to say that 9to90 has become the heartbeat of GS Artists and so moving forward we really feel that it will be at the centre of all of our activities. We are introducing some new sessions and dedicating our space to this Community group..

We’re looking for feedback & will be hosting a number of crafting events, posting a link to a survey in our bio and also launching a very exciting fundraising raffle - with the opportunity to win a coveted ‘Galerie Simpson Artists Selection Box’ - (No. 1 in the edition)

With huge thanks to all that have helped us reach thus far and those who are supporting our future 🙏

HIRE US !! Just wanted to flag up that our venue GS Artists on Swansea High Street is available for hire; for one off events or more regular use. We would favour not-for-profit organisations, charities, artist groups or similar.
We can offer use of equipment, seating and tables, and some installation support if needed. The rates are factored to cover costs, so reasonable. Just send us an email with any enquiries- [email protected]

Like a lot of organisations at the moment, we are struggling with funding and hate waste so keen that the venue is used, but we treasure our space and would want it to be used well.
GS Artists is project funded, which is always a tight rope as most grants are for production and not core costs.
We have managed with several income streams, including artworks for sale, but over the last nine months these streams have pretty much dried up.

We will be advertising some of our especially produced artworks for sale soon, meanwhile if we know any great grant writers out there please shout! 🙏

Gs Artists & the 9to90 Creative Community want to send a massive thank you to Jack Moyse & Menna Buss,
Over the last few months, the 9to90 have been very fortunate to be working with artists Jack and Menna. The results of this kind, calm interaction with the group are up at the Gallery now. Through a series of sessions working with a variety of textile methods the group were encouraged to talk about their own experiences of the Welfare State. All their experiences were treated with respect & their words used in the resulting textiles at their discretion,
Come & see the results! All visitors are invited to be part of the exhibition by contributing via messages on labels or small pennants, the craft table will be up with the usual free refreshments.

The gallery is open Wednesday to Saturday 12- 4 pm until May 2nd.
We can also open by appointment if you email us at [email protected]

With thanks to Arts Wales & The National Lottery Community Fund for their support.

THIS FRIDAY! Join us in celebrating a presentation of textiles outcomes co-created by Jack Moyse, Menna Buss and the 9to90 creative community. Through a series of workshops, the artists have created space for participants to reflect on and share their experiences of the welfare system, encouraging creative expression of thought without fear of judgement.
