Cool Pool
Mixed media by Rebecca Patterson

You might remember seeing Rebecca on the Sky Arts Landscape of the Year program and the winning wild card painting in the gallery. I think she’s one to watch in 2024.
Five of Rebecca’s new paintings can be found in the gallery in our Reflections of Spring exhibition :

Mixed media on board by Jessica Oliver
.art
We’re very happy to present Jessica Oliver for the first time in our Reflections of Spring exhibition. Her artistic journey has traversed diverse landscapes, from growing up in the North East of England, where she completed her studies in History of Art, to living in London before settling in Edinburgh where she joined Leith School of Art, and specialised in Landscape painting. Her paintings begin through initial sketchbook observations, which she then translates into a series of studio based paintings, utilising drawn marks to add dimension to her surfaces while exploring abstract values.
All of Jessica’s available paintings can be viewed in the gallery or online:

Beyond the Shadows
Watercolour on gessoed paper
By Morag Stevenson

A slight departure for Morag, but nevertheless an unmistakable Stevenson painting. Anyone who frequents the gallery regularly will know Morag; she’s been part of the gallery for many years, exhibited every year since we met, been on the stand of every art fair we’ve done and subsequently exhibited her work at the Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen Art Fairs as well as, of course, regularly in the gallery. She was delighted to have been accepted to exhibit with RSW Annual Exhibition in 2023, a long held ambition of hers. We are very pleased to present several of her paintings in our newly opened Reflections of Spring exhibition, in which Beyond the Shadows is included.
The exhibition and all of Morag’s available paintings can be viewed in the the gallery or online:

Ready!
We’ve had a few early birds for a preview of the preview, and all agreed the exhibition is looking great, indeed much better in person than online; but don’t you always find that to be the case?

We’re very much looking forward to welcoming Jessica Oliver to the gallery in our Spring exhibition.
Edinburgh based, Jessica grew up in the North East of England where she studied for her BA Hons in History of Art. On relocating to Edinburgh, she studied at Leith School of Art, specialising in Landscape painting and is a regular exhibitor in galleries in Edinburgh, Perth, Pittenweem and Aberfeldy.
We love the drama she’s captured in the sky in ‘Cornaigmore’ 84cm x 84cm mixed media on board.

Johnshaven artist spends hours layering her paint and rubbing back to reveal previously laid layers to achieve beautiful, calm horizons, sometimes with a lone tree or a wee copse in the distance. Her paintings convey a tranquility and peacefulness in which to loose ourselves - something that’s much needed these days.

Hoping for a Braw, Bricht, Moonlicht Nicht the morn for Burn’s night.
Gundra Nock’s ceramic whisky sets, which are all unique and set on oak from a whisky cask with a disk of tartan inset below the tumblers. Of course, there has to a painting, this one is by Aberdeen artist Jo McIntosh. Hamish our wee haggis (yeah, the hairy thing on the left) is hoping there might be a wee dram coming his way.

Thank goodness the cats finally out of the bag! I am so delighted to say that I won as a wildcard on television show! I’m still in disbelief!

It was such a glorious day, I was there with my good artist friend and we were just expecting a nice day of painting and eating lunch. Even though I was interviewed earlier in the day by I honestly didn’t think I had any chance of winning, there were so many incredible artists!

The piece ‘Drama at Dunnottar’ is available through in Stonehaven.

Not too much of me greeting in the final edit, thank goodness! A huge thank you to the judges who saw something in my work and to who were lovely 🥰
