Kate Shephard Art

Kate Shephard Art Kate Shephard - Dorset artist. I create expressive, faith-inspired art, from vibrant abstracts to peaceful watercolours and Bible verse prints.

My pieces bring peace, joy, and soul into the home, offering beauty & heartfelt encouragement and inspiration. I live in Poole in Dorset in the UK and have been painting on and off since I was at school over 30 years ago. I opened my shop in 2013 - put up one item and then family life got the better of me as the kids were still 2 and 4 at that point. In the last few months I have started painting

again and creating all sorts of bits and pieces so I thought I would re-open my shop again! A lot of my creations/paintings are largely inspired or sourced from the beautiful area that I live in but I take inspiration from lots of different areas of my life. I am lucky to live by the sea and love painting coastlines, sunsets etc. I particularly love using lots of colour and life and love striking scenery and subject matter. Colour makes me happy! :)
My crafty creations make lovely bespoke gifts for loved ones, family or friends and are great as occasion gifts for weddings, mothers day, valentines day, Christmas. Follow me on twitter : OR

Choosing the right size for your wall can make such a huge difference — and wow, you really see it when they’re side by side like this.

Here’s ‘Bramble Bush Bay Shores’ in a few different sizes so you can get a feel for what each one brings to a room.
Bigger pieces tend to anchor the space beautifully, while smaller ones are perfect for cosy corners or part of a gallery wall.

If you’re ever stuck between sizes, feel free to message me — I’m always happy to help you figure out what will work best in your space.
Which size do you naturally gravitate toward?

Wow… Michelle’s lovely review honestly made my day. 💛
There’s nothing better than hearing that a piece arrived safely, looks beautiful in its new home, and has brought someone a bit of joy. That’s really all I ever hope for.

I’m so grateful every time someone takes a moment to share their experience — it means more than you know. Knowing that my art is cared for, loved, and displayed in your homes is just the nicest feeling.

Thank you, Michelle, for your kind words… and for coming back again in the future. It truly means the world.
If you’ve bought from me before, I’d love to know where your piece is hanging — it always makes me smile. ✨

There's something about standing at the water's edge that changes everything 💙
This is 'The Sea Beneath Us is Deep' - This painting is about that sense of awe when you realize how vast the sea truly is - discovering the powerful calm and quiet wisdom that lies beneath the surface.

My inspo : I wanted to capture that feeling of depth, emotion, and surrender - of letting go and allowing life to flow just as the sea does. Soft layered blues drift into one another, touched with glimmers of light that dance across the surface. There's a gentle rhythm to it, that push and pull that feels like breathing.
For me, this piece speaks to that inner depth we all carry. The quiet wisdom beneath life's surface. The peace that comes when we stop resisting and start trusting the ebb and flow.
It brings such beautiful calm into bedrooms, living rooms, or any space where you want to unwind and breathe deeply. Available as a canvas print - link in bio if this peaceful soul is calling yours 🌊

I’m Kate, an abstract artist inspired by colour, the coastline, and the quiet beauty that brings a sense of calm and renewal.
I was born in Warsaw during the communist era, where everything felt grey and heavy. But my summers in the Polish countryside were filled with golden light, open meadows, and the kind of freedom that stays with you forever.
When I paint, I'm chasing that feeling — the warmth of those childhood summers, the calm I find standing at the Dorset coast, the way colour can soften the edges of life and help us breathe again.
My work blends expressive movement with gentle serenity. I'm drawn to soft, luminous tones — turquoise, blush pink, sea-glass blue — and I paint with oils in layers, letting intuition guide me.
Painting is my sanctuary. It's where I reconnect with wonder, possibility, and my truest self. And my hope is that when you look at my work, you feel that same sense of calm and light.
Thank you for being here 💛

'Echoes in Still Water' is for anyone who just needs to breathe. 🌿
This piece is about that stillness when you pause long enough to let everything settle — when the world goes quiet and something inside you finally relaxes. I painted it after a calm evening walk along the coast and I honestly feel it every time I look at it.
What I love about seeing it in different spaces is how it just belongs everywhere. In a bedroom it wraps around you like the calmest morning. In a hallway it's the first thing that greets you when you walk through the door — and doesn't that matter? In a living room it creates this little pocket of peace that you can genuinely feel when you're near it.
The soft blues and flowing colours seem to find their place in so many different interiors too — coastal, minimal, modern, even more traditional spaces. It's not a painting that shouts. It just quietly, beautifully shifts the energy of a room.
If your home needs a little more stillness — this might be exactly what it's been waiting for.
Available as a print or canvas, framed or unframed. Link in bio 💙 or here :

From dull… to softly glowing.
It’s amazing how quickly a room can change when you bring in a piece of art that has a bit of heart and colour in it. A little colour can breathe new life into a space — it softens the edges, lifts the mood, and suddenly everything feels that little bit warmer and more you.

This is a simple reminder of why I love working with colour so much. Even one painting can shift the energy of a room in the gentlest, most uplifting way.

If your walls could talk… they’d ask for this.
A touch of joy, a bit of light, something that makes you breathe out when you walk in.

Do you feel the difference when art is on your walls? I’d love to know which colours make your home feel alive. ✨

I was looking through them while I was at Sandbanks the other day (couldn’t resist filming the waves!) and blimey… your kind words really do mean so much.

It still feels a bit surreal that my art ends up in your homes, and hearing that you love it just makes my heart do a happy wiggle.

Thank you for every message, every review, every bit of support — it all keeps me going, truly.
If you’ve got one of my pieces up, tell me where it’s living… I love knowing! 🌊✨

Sometimes you create a painting that speaks exactly to where you are in life 💛
This is 'Leap of Faith' - This painting is about taking that brave step forward even when you can't see the whole path ahead - trusting the process and believing things will unfold beautifully.

My inspo : I painted this during a time of uncertainty, when I was learning to trust my intuition and believe that things would unfold as they should. The expressive brushstrokes and flowing colours mirror that feeling perfectly - there's freedom in it, a release, a reminder that courage isn't loud. It's simply choosing to keep going.
The palette feels both energizing and grounded - soft radiant tones with moments of contrast that symbolize the light that often follows change. When I look at this piece, it reminds me that faith doesn't always mean certainty. Sometimes it's just a willingness to trust the process and let beauty unfold in its own time.
Perfect for living rooms, home offices, or anywhere you want to feel inspired and uplifted. Available as a canvas print - link in bio ✨

Here’s a little peek into Artist Life — the dreamy bits, the painty bits… and then all the “other stuff” that somehow fills half the day. 😅

Drawing, painting, sketching… then suddenly it’s framing, wrapping orders, replying to emails, photographing prints, sorting accounts, planning collections, brewing endless cups of coffee, and trying to remember what day it is.

But honestly? I wouldn’t change it.
Every part of it — the messy, the magical, the mundane — feeds into the art somehow. It all becomes part of my story.

Thanks for being here for every stage, not just the pretty parts.

What if you're already nearly there? 💛
'Closer Than You Think' is for the one who has been quietly working toward something — head down, keeping going, trusting the process even on the days it feels impossibly far away.
This is the painting for walls that do more than look beautiful. Walls that remind you, every single morning, that the progress you can't always see is still happening. That you are moving. Growing. Getting closer. Art that Inspires.
Because sometimes you just need your walls to believe in you.
