💭"The installation at Flag Fen brought the site to life. The look and feel of the piece felt like an invitation to walk into the ancient landscape it so cleverly depicted, like a bridge between the then and now.

It was beautiful to watch too, with the changing light and different seasons, leaves moving in the wind. Authentic and atmospheric, I loved it!"

Fen to Fire 🔥 is an immersive digital art installation that brings the Late Bronze Age Must Farm settlement back to life, just down the road from where it once stood.

Created by artist Guy Schofield@overcliff_media with young people from Cromwell Community College, Chatteris, the installation uses 3D modelling, motion capture and AI to recreate the "Pompeii of the Fens" in astonishing detail - using AI, no two visits are ever the same, with activities, people, and viewpoints changing.

Taking place in the atmospheric surroundings of an ancient Bronze Age site, the evening features two 45-minute sessions, with a 20-minute interval,offering a unique opportunity to explore the spiritual and paranormal side of this ancient site.

Another highlight from the Auger Survey carried out at Flag Fen earlier this year.

The deepest point from the Flag Fen Archaeology Park auger survey was 3.8m and the shallowest 0.2m with an average depth of 1.46m. The lowest recorded point equalled -1.24m OD while the highest equalled 2.87m OD, a difference of 4.11m. The resulting model established a detailed asymmetrical, bowl-shaped profile.

The survey was carried out by volunteers and archaeologists from the Cambridge Archaeological Unit and the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research’ Fenlands Futures Archaeology and Heritage Research Initiative (FFAHRI).

Working with Kindred Drama , journey through the site on story inspired by ancient history and East Anglian folklore, where storytelling, theatrical encounters and haunting visuals bring the Fen to life.
