It’s the Dirleton Fete & Games this Saturday! It is a fun day out for all age groups, with traditional stalls, races, sideshows, competitions and refreshments and is an important fundraiser for local charities.

The Fete & Games has been held in the village for over 100 years and we have a photo here from the 1997 event – recognise any faces?

At the Coastal Communities Museum we share the heritage of the whole Coastal Ward in East Lothian, including Dirleton, Gullane, Aberlady and Whitekirk and well as North Berwick.

Come along and meet our helpful volunteers and find out more about the history of our Coastal Ward. We’re open Wednesday to Saturday every week over the summer from 11-4pm.

To qualify for 2 hours free parking in the car park that we share with North Berwick Library, please enter your car registration number in the tablet at the building entrance. On the 300 anniversary of James Hutton’s birth, come and see our Geology exhibit and learn more about the rocks beneath your feet.

Today is the 300th anniversary of the birth of James Hutton, often called the ‘Father of Modern Geology’. Born in 1726 in Edinburgh, he played a key role in establishing geology as a modern science.

Our geology exhibit is perfect for curious minds of all ages – explore how Hutton’s groundbreaking ideas about geological change can still be seen in the rock formations and coastline of East Lothian today.

Applications for this year’s popular North Berwick Law Race have now sold out – you have to be quick to get a place! You can still soak up the atmosphere of previous races at our Law Race exhibit. We have photographs by Holger Mophaut and a video by one of our volunteers Hugh Trevor of the 2007 race – why not come along and see if you can spot a familiar face? 🏃‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️
