We'd love you to join us on THURSDAY 3rd September 6-8pm for the Preview of our upcoming show 'The Gathering'

We are thrilled to present a new collection of figurative paintings, sculptures and etchings by four exceptional artists ~

Iain Black / Joyce Gunn Cairns / Ramon Robertson / Eiko Yamash*ta

Each persona in the room holds its own backstory. Every face hints at a life lived just beyond the edges of the frame or the confines of a pedestal.

We invite you to join the gathering, to share the space with these fascinating characters and perhaps to guess at the stories and secrets they hold.

The scenes in Kate McAllan’s work explore the fragmentary nature of memories; the intimate symbols of every day existence.
Recurring motifs include curtains and household objects, paths through parks and the changing light of a room.
In these paintings, home is a space for art and protection, resplendent in the rendering of quilts and wallpaper; but it also the location of quiet drama, a world within a world. Individually each work is a window in to moment, collectively they tell a story about time.

The energy and the hands on interaction used in the creation of Matthew Draper's works is evident in the wonderful mark making in each piece.

"I identify myself principally as a draughtsman; drawing being the most unencumbered and immediate form of image-making. My work is made with an intense and energetic immediacy, working instinctively rather than methodically, keeping me physically and emotionally involved in the process.

I crush soft pastel in my hands rubbing the dust into the paper in wide sweeps of colour gradually manipulating the material to build up a thick layered surface using the ball of my thumb or the heal of my hand."

See Matthew's works in the gallery now as part of The World We Live in until 29th August, or browse his works in the show on our website (link below)
