The Palace House Estate is a 5-acre site in the heart of Newmarket. It comprises three complementary attractions; National Horseracing Museum in the Trainer’s House and King’s Yard Galleries, Packard Galleries of British Sporting Art in Palace House, and a chance to meet former racehorses in the flagship home of Retraining of Racehorses. We have a fabulous restaurant and gift shop onsite and visit

What a summer! 🎨🐴

From sock hobby horses and creative clay to screen-printed T-shirts, printmaking, mosaics and 3D graffiti horses, our Summer Creative Sessions have been full of imagination and brilliant creations.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, as well as Newmarket Community Arts, textile artist Ricki Outis Textiles, equine artist Nichola Eddery Fine Art and Kev Parker from Reprezent Project for helping make the sessions so special.

Chess tournament tomorrow! ♟️

Join us in Palace House Garden for an outdoor rapid-play tournament this Bank Holiday Monday.

The graded tournament will feature five rounds in a Swiss format, with three games in the morning and two in the afternoon.

📅 Monday 31 August
🕘 Arrive by 9am for a 9.30am start
🏁 Finishes at 3pm
🎟️ £5 for ECF members or £30 for non-members, payable on the door

The National Horseracing Museum Trail Half Marathon takes place tomorrow! 🏃

We’re looking forward to welcoming runners to the Museum before they set off along the trails surrounding Newmarket’s famous studs and stables.

Good luck to everyone taking part, and thank you to Newmarket Joggers for organising the event. We’ll see you at the starting line!

Fine Art Friday, Art come to life:

Daniel Crane's ‘A Meeting of Minds’ celebrates the quiet understanding shared between horses and people. 🐎💚

The scene is set in a lane in Brocklesby country where Crane exercises his hunters. It is also deeply personal, as the three horses are all animals he has owned.

On the left is 007, who began his career as a successful show hunter, alongside Cogley and the grey Pigwidgeon.

Pigwidgeon started with the Quorn before joining Crane at the age of six. The artist described him as the best horse he ever sat on. He could be challenging, but was capable of giving his rider an unforgettable day.
