Rural history museum with a Grade II* Listed windmill (Stevens' Mill). Open 10am-4pm (last entry 3pm) Sat & Sun.Bank Hols Sun & Mon. Easter to end of October.

An amazing family day out – climb the windmill, follow the trails, make phone calls to each other via our working 1960s telephone exchange, enjoy the rare vintage vehicles, old schoolroom and village shop, and find out how people lived in Burwell on the edge of the Fens. Free car parking at Gardiner Memorial Hall in the High Street. Short walk from rear of car park to the museum. Disabled parking available in Mill Close near the windmill. The end of our 2026 open season is rapidly approaching! Our final day is Saturday 24th, when we will be staying open until 6pm. That day will be Halloween themed with family friendly activities (some activities will have an additional charge). The whole museum will be open as normal for all visitors. Admission can be paid in advance online or on the day at the museum. Activities with an additional charge can be paid for and started at any time during your visit .
Don't forget the extra treats on sale in our tearoom!

After we close we have 2 advance ticket-only Christmas events. On 14th November Christmas Wreath Making workshop, 5th and 6th December Christmas Grotto with Santa in the mill (only children visiting Santa will need tickets, the rest of the grotto is free entry for everyone)

The previously advertised Christmas Cake Decorating Workshop has been cancelled due to unforseen circumstances.

We are unable to provide tours of the windmill this weekend. Sorry for any disappointment. The ground floor of the mill, with its videos and displays, will still be open for no extra charge.

Here are the two winning bees from our August children's activities days. All the bees that were made were brilliant and it made judging them very difficult! The winning bees are shown here in close-up and with the prize the maker has won. The makers of these two bees can come to the museum on a Saturday or Sunday to collect their prizes.
All the bees that were made will go on permanent display in our education room.

Thank you to everyone who visited Saturday, you kept us busy!
Heritage Open Days continues on Sunday 10am to 4pm when we will be joined by one of our blacksmiths, Wil of Steel.
Free admission, free guided tours of the windmill and extra goodies in our tea room. (Please come to the admission kiosk when you arrive so we can count you, plus we have some free items for children!)

It's back to school for most children this week. Modern classrooms look rather different to our recreation of a Victorian classroom!
We're still open every weekend until 25th October.

It's a Bank Holiday this weekend, which means that we are open Sunday 30th and Monday 31st 10-4 but closed Saturday 29th.

Our final FREE children's activities day of the summer is this Thursday 27th August.
Up to 4 children with every paying adult.
Museum open 11am to 3pm.
If driving, please park consideratly in nearby streets if the Gardiner Memorial Hall car park is full.
We have cycle racks right by the entrance.

Free Kids Thursdays continue this week at Burwell Museum. Lots of free activities, plus a chance to see the Snocat if you didn't come to our Classic Cars day.
One paying adult for every 4 children.
Adult admission is £6, or free with a season ticket.
Museum open 11am to 3pm.
