It’s called Bluebird and was inspired by a post my friend and artist/entrepreneur Stephen Stapleton made some time back of a Charles Bukowski poem. Thanks Steve!

And thanks to Campden - and Higgins - without whom none of this would be happening. Will post our song over the weekend. In the meantime, thanks again for joining this journey - I’m excited!

Ancient Pathways, a new collection of Avebury-inspired paintings, opens on Saturday 5 September at National Trust Avebury.

Created by Artist in Residence Georgie Weedon, the collection includes Avebury’s standing stones, colourful landscapes of the Ridgeway, Silbury Hill and West Kennet Long Barrow, and still lifes of spring and summer flowers from the garden.

“Avebury is extraordinary. Every visit feels different, every season brings something new, and the landscape, garden and stones all seem to hold stories. Ancient Pathways captures the changing moods of the year, from the colours and textures of the garden to the vast sense of time and space that surround the monuments in the landscape.” Georgie Weedon

The paintings will be on display until 1 November in the refurbished Racquets Court in Avebury Manor Garden.

Garden admission applies, but entry is free for National Trust members.

A second piece of work, titled Welcome Home, will also be available in the historic dovecote.

The installation, featuring a single sung voice, invites people to pause and be still before continuing their visit.

Thrilled to share the poster for my upcoming show at Avebury National Trust. Avebury NT

These paintings are not intended to explain Avebury or recreate its history. Instead, they are a personal response to the feeling of being here. They explore the relationship between people, landscape and memory, while leaving space for imagination, folklore and wonder.

Alongside the paintings, Welcome Home, a new sound work in the historic Dovecote, invites visitors to pause, sit quietly and let a single sung voice reverberate through the ancient space. It is a small invitation to be still and soak up the Avebury magic.

This show is a very special one for me. I couldn’t have imagined it as possibility six years ago when I started sharing my work. It is also a new one for me working with sound installation.

I am so grateful to Hazel and the wider Avebury NT for placing their trust in me. This year as Artist in Residence in one of my favourite deeply soulful, beautiful and restorative places, is the dream.

Final touches coming together for new show prep at Avebury NT - opens 5th Sept in the Manor Garden Racquets Court Gallery and runs until Nov. More soon. In a White Horse Festival first, we are delighted to present two world-class artists from two different disciplines: Ruth Rogers - violin, and Georgie Weedon - painter. In a multi-disciplinary feast for the senses, they are showcased alongside talented young Royal College of Music string players the Nadejda Quartet, and harpsichordist Hilary Davan Wetton all presented in the iconic rustic setting of The Farm at Avebury.

This truly is Vivaldi as you’ve never heard him before; as the musicians bring his famous ‘Four Seasons’ to life on the page, Georgie will bring it to life live on her canvas, painting in response to the music to create four visual showpieces, while our surroundings bring it to life through nature itself. You will be able to watch renowned artist Georgie’s artistic process unfold before you, while acclaimed violinist Ruth, the quartet and harpsichord provide their own artistic interpretation live on stage.
