REME Museum's Great Egg Chariot Challenge

So, the ‘egg-heads’ at REME Museum want to know how your designs for the Great Egg Chariot Challenge are coming along?
Remember, the challenge is to build an egg carrying, self-propelled vehicle that showcases your amazing design abilities. Every child who enters gets free entry to the REME Museum, and there are four £25 e-shopping vouchers up for grabs too.
Your vehicle must safely transport a raw egg using its own power. You have to make the power source too – no stealing the motor from something else! Use recycled materials to make your chariot and send us a video of your chariot as it ‘fries’ into action!
Watch the video to get some ideas, and there are lots of designs on the internet - but not too much ‘poaching’!
Full details are on the website at rememuseum.org.uk. Good luck and get ‘cracking’.
PS - We apologise for the ‘egg-cruciating’ puns!

REME Museum's Great Egg Chariot Challenge

REME Museum launches its Summer 2020 Egg Chariot Challenge!

This summer, we are challenging YOU to make a self-propelled, egg-carrying vehicle using scrap materials. The best vehicles will win a prize and we will feature entries on our social media pages.
This is a cracking way of building your STEM skills and keeping the little chicks busy over the school summer holiday.

Head over to our website to find out how to enter. There are different age categories, and four £25 e-shopping vouchers up for grabs too. Every child who enters will get a free ticket to REME Museum!

There are a few rules: Your vehicle must safely transport a raw egg. The vehicle must use scrap and standard craft materials. And the vehicle must be self-propelled. No motors allowed, but why not experiment with rubber bands, springs or maybe even a sail?

To enter, send us a video of your vehicle in action. Special guest judges will choose the most egg-cellent entries!

Watch this video to get some ideas, and there are lots of designs on the internet - but not too much ‘poaching’!

Full details are on the website at rememuseum.org.uk. Good luck and get ‘cracking’.

This week's Saturday artwork is "A Brigade Workshop, Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Milne Bay, New Guinea" (1943) and is by C E Kiney. The artist balances the dramatic tropical scene with the activity of the REME personnel. We love the sense of scale given by the tall palm trees and dense jungle behind. This and other works of art from our collect can be seen on the website of Art UK

Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers - REME at the cutting edge and demonstrating 3D printing!

Last week, Thursday 16 July, 5 Bn REME received a visit from CGS, DCGS, and DCap at Army HQ, to speak to them about the 3D Printing ‘Makerspace’ which had been created for them by HoC CSS.

4 of these containers will be fielded across the Army over the next 2 months, and will provide the ability to print spare parts, prototypes, and conduct Expedient Repair on the front line.
