Coming to check out the view from the roof of Severndroog Castle this Sunday? We are opening up a little later than usual, from 12 noon to 3.30pm on Sunday 16th February.

The Tea Room is open from 9am, and we have extended Tea Room opening this week for the half-term holidays.

Hooray! Our Tea Room will be open to accommodate little tummies throughout half term week. We are therefore changing our opening days to fit around the school holidays.

We will be closed today, 13th February, but then open from Friday 14th through to Sunday 23rd (except Thursday 20th).

To be clear, we are closed today and next Thursday but open every other day until the 23rd, 9.30am to 4pm.

We look forward to seeing you and the puddle stompers soon 🥾🧁🍦

FINAL FEW SEATS remaining for Maria Mihailik's acoustic evening upstairs in the Lady James Room at Severndroog Castle on Friday 14 March.

Maria's hauntingly beautiful vocals blend with the warm acoustic in the Lady James Room, where she will perform a selection of her own compositions plus interpretations of folk classics.

Born in Ukraine and currently living in South East London, Maria Mihailik is a talented young singer-songwriter. Inspired by an eclectic mix of songwriters like Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Fiona Apple and Amy Winehouse, she blends folk styles and contemporary themes in a confessional, intimate way. Maria has recently released her debut EP.

We asked Maria about the inspiration for her set: "I've been a regular visitor and even part time worker at the Castle for several years and feel connected to the atmosphere and historical significance of Severndroog, along with the surrounding area. I’m excited to bring my repertoire into the space and hopefully create an experience that blends the exceptional acoustics, unique ambience and storytelling in the music."

This intimate unplugged show upstairs in the Lady James Room will place Maria's performance at the centre of the evening. Our bar will be open before the show and during the interval.

Sunday 2nd Feb Join us for the market in the woods, set against beautiful Severndroog Castle, Shooter’s Hill. Expect local food producers, makers, crafters and artisan items.

This Sunday, our viewing platform at the top of the castle will be re-opening for the spring. No need to book, you can purchase your tickets for the viewing platform on the day.

Come and eat, drink, see the beautiful views but most importantly support local! See you there!

Our Story

This 18th century Gothic tower, with 360° views of London, was built in ancient woodland by Lady Ann James in memory of her husband, Commodore Sir William James of the East India Company.

The castle is perched on one of South-East London's highest points and offers exceptional views of London and its surrounding counties. When visiting, you can also tour the rest of the building and learn about its rich history, as well as explore the surrounding woodland. For a welcomed break, the Tearoom offers an array of hot drinks, lunches and homemade cakes.

Severndroog Castle also hosts an exciting programme of events for all ages, and is available for private hire (weddings and parties). For more information, please visit our website www.SeverndroogCastle.org.uk.

Viewing platform open Sundays 10:00-15:30. Tearoom open Thursday-Sunday, 10:00-16:00.
