Gerald Moore Gallery is free and open to the public. We are a centre for modern and contemporary art with learning at its heart.

Gerald Moore Gallery is a contemporary art gallery placed within the grounds of Eltham College. The gallery prides itself on being an excellent resource for its students and a creative learning space and venue for all, through its exhibitions, classes and events.

Join us for the private view of ‘Archive Pressure,’ a new exhibition by artist David Hughes, opening on Thursday 10 September, 6 to 8pm. The exhibition explores how vast collections of everyday digital images can be transformed through custom built computational systems, revealing unexpected patterns, relationships and visual outcomes.

NOW 2026 Open Call

A look back at NOW 2022, with installation views featuring work by Kainoa Gruspe (Slade Fine Art MA), Bartlomiej Hajduk (Slade Fine Art MA), Hanne Peeraer (RCA Painting MA), and Cherry Song (Slade Fine Art BA).

Open Call: NOW 2026

This year, Gerald Moore Gallery is approaching NOW: New Original Work a little differently.

Previously, we visited degree shows across the country and invited artists to participate after seeing their work in person. While we’ve once again been inspired by the outstanding graduate exhibitions we’ve visited this year, we’re now opening the selection process and inviting emerging artists and recent graduates to apply directly.

We’re delighted to announce the open call for the sixth edition of NOW, our annual exhibition dedicated to showcasing emerging talent and supporting artists as they transition from education into professional practice.

The exhibition runs 8 October–21 November 2026
Previous editions have featured Josef Yaeger, Alexandra Searle, Hanne Peeraer, Krystle Patel, Kainoa Gruspe, Abdulmohsen Al Bin Ali, Zinong Zhang and Sean Synnuck.

Open to: artists graduating in summer 2026 and those who graduated in summer 2025.

Deadline: Friday 4 September, 4pm.

The Gerald Moore Gallery is delighted to present 'Archive Pressure' by David Hughes, on view from 10 September to 3 October 2026.

The private view is on Thursday 10 September from 6 – 8pm. You are warmly welcome to the event.

'Archive Pressure' is an ongoing artistic project by David Hughes that transforms large collections of
publicly available eBay listing photographs into prints, time-based works and sculptural investigations through custom-built computational systems, exploring how rule-based processes reveal unexpected relationships within everyday forms of documentation and circulation.

We are delighted to welcome Eleni Maragaki as the next Artist-in-Residence at Eltham College.

Beginning in early August 2026 and continuing until the end of July 2027, Eleni will work closely with our students, sharing her artistic practice and introducing her work to the school community.

Throughout her residency, she will also develop a new body of work in a dedicated studio above the Art Department, culminating in an exhibition at the Gerald Moore Gallery in May 2027.

We look forward to sharing more about Eleni's residency over the coming year and hope you will join us for her exhibition.

Born in Athens, Eleni Maragaki is a visual artist working across sculpture, installation, and printmaking. She studied Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (2013–2018) before completing an MA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London (2020–2022), supported by the prestigious Mona Hatoum Scholarship.

Eleni's work has been presented in exhibitions across the UK, Europe, and Asia. Recent highlights include the Shijiazhuang Youth Art Biennale in Hebei, China (2023), a screening of her short animation film at LUX Moving Image in London (2022), and Landscapes Seen from Everywhere, her solo exhibition at The Muse Gallery, London (2025).

Her public art projects include Pompe, a light installation commissioned by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and exhibited at Stavros Niarchos Park in 2022 and 2024; an interactive public sculpture shown at Art Station Dubulti, Latvia (2021); and a public sculpture proposal shortlisted for the First Plinth Award by the Royal Society of Sculptors (2023).

Our Summer Creative Workshops for children aged 7–15 start next week! 🎨✨

Our first workshop is Creating Clay Animals for children aged 7–11, where participants will explore clay hand-building techniques and sculpt their own animal creations.

We have many more fun, creative, and educational workshops on offer throughout the summer.

We hope you're keeping cool and finding ways to stay refreshed during the heatwave.

This summer, we're taking a short break from hosting exhibitions while we renovate the Gallery building. Our next exhibition will open in September, and we'll share more information with you soon.

Artist-in-Residence, Rob Lye, has been very busy recently. His solo exhibition, Fog Machine, concluded in May, and he has also just returned from a short residency in the Arctic with the Arctic Circle programme.

There are still spaces left in our upcoming May half term workshops at the Gerald Moore Gallery (SE9).

Classes range from creating sculptural musical instruments to getting messy while experimenting with science and art.

Join us for one (or more!) of these hands-on workshops and enjoy a fun-filled day while developing new creative skills in a supportive and inspiring environment.

• Age: For children aged 7-11
• Time: 10am to 2.30pm
• All materials provided
• Price: £44 (inclusive of VAT) per workshop or £142 (inclusive of VAT) for whole week (set of 4 workshops)

We also have art workshops for adults on Thursdays from 6 – 7:30pm. This series of relaxed, beginner-friendly art workshops focus on painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpting techniques. Led by practising artists, each session is designed to help you learn new skills, gain confidence, and create your own piece of art to take home. The cost is £22 per class.
