We are pleased to introduce a founding member of BOTH gallery, Carolyn Whittaker as the fourth and final artist in ‘All That You Have is Stolen’. Opening PV this Thursday 17th September. Carolyn Whittaker, originally from Lancashire, is a London based multimedia artist. An exploration of the relationship between the elements of time, change and risk at conceptual and material levels is the mainstay of her practice. Melting ice is often used to demonstrate that ‘nothing is ever left as nothing.’ The viewer is invited to observe the performative nature of the object slowly changing in form, and therefore participating in the risks associated with the outcome. Whittaker’s more recent practice examines the erosion of the value and dignity of labour
over the decades, linked to imbalances and inequity between workers, business
leaders and their shareholders. Carolyn crushes the tools of labour, while
reimagining, repurposing, and elevating their value, creating objects of desire.
The fragility, instability and second guessing the unknown, is a common thread. Carolyn Whittaker will be at both opening and closing events and will be at the gallery in gallery hours (slide left for details) 18th 20th September. The other artists in the show are E Black Craig Robertson

Very pleased to introduce our third artist presenting ‘All That You Have is Stolen’ at opening PV on Thursday 17th September. BOTH gallery Director Justine Hounam is a multidisciplinary artist based in London, working with film, fabric, and domestic objects. Her creative practice examines domestic objects as extensions of the self—carriers of attachment, memory, and emotional experience that hold onto traces of lived lives beyond their practical use. Through sculpture and film, Justine explores themes of presence and absence, containment, vulnerability, and the shifting boundaries between body, object, and environment. Furniture and domestic spaces become symbols for the body and relationships, while traces, surfaces, and empty forms suggest what remains when something or someone is no longer present. who you can meet at either of the opening and closing events or on Saturday 19th Sept, will be exhibiting with Carolyn Whittaker Craig Robertson E Black

We are delighted to introduce our second of four artists presenting ‘All That You Have is Stolen’ at BOTH, opening on Friday 18th Sept with PV Thursday 17th . Craig Robertson (b. Scotland) is a London based sculptor. Much of their work takes the form of free-standing sculpture, made from plaster, wax and various timber. Found and constructed objects are copied and imprecisely replicated through sand casting techniques and formed in plaster, or bronze and aluminum. The repeated loss and return of the real and imagined originals simultaneously evoke presence and absence. Their sculptures parody and undermine the grand, bombastic and abhorrent symbolism of monuments littered around most major cities by attempting to connect these suspect celebrations of violence with an experience of convenience and conviviality. You can meet Craig at either of the opening or closing events or they will be at the gallery on Saturday 26th September 12 til 4pm. We are delighted to introduce the first of four artists coming together to present ‘ALL THAT YOU HAVE IS STOLEN’ opening at BOTH on 17th September. Emma Black is a London-based artist who creates sculpture and installation that explores the human experience from a non-normative perspective. The work examines the pressures of society and the tension between conformity and refusal.

Working with ceramics, casting, wood, metal and found objects, Black creates fragmented forms that hover between body, object and prop. They create environments and objects that are familiar yet strange, considering feelings of otherness and the tension between what is visible and what remains unseen.

Humour, the comic grotesque and absurdity are central, offering ways to navigate difficult experiences and articulate what escapes language. E Black Watch out for intros to the other three artists in the lead up to the show. Carolyn Whittaker Craig Robertson

ALL THAT YOU HAVE IS STOLEN brings together works by Carolyn Whittaker, Craig Robertson, Emma Black, and Justine Hounam who, through their varied practices reflect on and respond to the premise that all that you have is

stolen, stolen again, stolen again, and again.

stolen from the first to the last and all the lies in between

our stolen, stolen by us,

our stolen, stolen from us.

I stole, you stole, we all stole for

whatever is convenient

we steal, all the while

to fill a gap

the gap of modernity

Kat Easto (b. 1998) is a London-based artist and set designer whose practice invites viewers into the quietly curious world of her imagination.

Working across oil painting, digital media, staged photography and installation, Kat creates immersive, uncanny environments where the unsettling and the familiar coexist. Inspired by the empty and abandoned architecture of her hometown of Croydon, she reimagines these forgotten buildings as eerie film sets for stories that were never made—spaces that seem to have taken on strange new lives of their own.

We are excited to support Kat’s practice through this award and look forward to sharing more about her upcoming exhibition in early 2027.
