Shetland Wool Week may be coming to an end this weekend, but we have something exciting to announce for our crofters and farmers!

To celebrate their 125th anniversary, Vispring have offered a handmade Shetland mattress to one of our wool suppliers. After all, without their wool, we wouldn’t be here!

All of our regular wool suppliers will be automatically entered into the raffle. The winner will be drawn at the end of October, meaning their handmade mattress will be delivered in time for Christmas!

It is our way of saying thank you to the people who make everything we do possible, and we are very grateful to Vispring for helping us celebrate our wool producers in such a special way.

So, if you have a family member or friend who supplies wool to J&S, let them know they are in the running! We’ll have more information in the next few weeks.

Alongside all the knitterly events taking place during Wool Week, we are also grateful for the support of Vispring Beds, who use our Real Shetland Wool in their ‘Shetland’ range of mattresses.

During Wool Week, Vispring sponsor a number of events with the Shetland Flock Book Trust, including the Silver Shears Fine Wool Competition, which we will be hosting in our shop tomorrow, and Wool on the Hoof at the Marts on Saturday.

Last night we attended the Opening Ceremony for Shetland Wool Week, along with fellow sponsors, visitors and locals. ❤

It was a great night filled with music, chats and meeting up with old and new friends, we've had a busy day in the shop so far and look forward to the rest of the week! all our classes are full but we have free Sheepy events on:

Tuesday and Thursday: Olivers Wool Grading talk 2.00
Wednesday: Wool Store Open day 9.30-4.30

The Lunna Scarf, a Shetland lace scarf from the J&S archives, can be made in 1ply Cobweb or 2ply Lace. in 2024 we redid the pattern so it now features both written and charted lace instructions. Made on a garter stitch background, it's reversible and features classic Shetland lace motifs.
