Its amazing what comes throughthe door at Military Museum Scotland. A couple of days ago, we received a set of WWII medals, all the way from Australia, via the family in East Calder.
Maureen, our researcher has already done an amazing amount of research on this medal group. It is an amazing historical story, but for now no further details will be released. The story and pictures will be featured in our up and coming guide book, which hopefully be available by End of November. They will be featured alongside the story of another member of the same family, who was awarded the Military Medal in WWI. , you can see the medals now on display, but no further information will be released yet.
Don't want to spoil the launch of our Souvenir Guide Book.

Military Museum Scotland will be closed today, 28th August 2026.
A sad day today at Military Museum Scotland. Our flags are at half mast in memory of Morag Goulden.
Morag was a well loved, incredible RAF Veteran, who is sadly missed at Military Museum Scotland. Ever since her first visit to the museum, she made a huge impact on everyone here. So why was Morag so Special?
Morag was only 80 years young and I had the privilege to call her a close friend for the last 6 years. Ever since her first visit, she made a huge impact on me and all our other volunteers. It would take too long to put in to words how special she was and what a huge loss she is to is. This special lady has raised well over £10k for Military Museum Scotland, that alone was an amazing feat. That wasn't all though, for years he has raised an incredible amount of funds for the RNLI, Poppy Scotland, and SSAFFA to name just a few. She never stopped giving and fundraising despite suffering from cancer for over 15 years. Anyone that met Morag, knew how special she was. Always smiling and always helping others, despite the banter in the museum. Army, Navy and RAF continually slag each other off, inter-service rivalry. morag always gave as good as she got, ( being a member of the junior service), lol. But when it hits the fan, all 3 services are one. The banter is always there and thats what makes our military what it is. Morag was so proud to be part of that.
Morag was one in a billion.
Today we say farewell to Morag, but she will never ever be forgotten at Military Museum Scotland.

Military Museum Scotland is looking to produce a Guide Book for the museum. Would you like to support Military Museum Scotland and put your business in front of our visitors. The Book will be an A5 book with about 36 pages so there will be room for a number of business card size, 1/4 page, 1/2 page and full page adverts. The first run will be 5000. If you are an individual, a company or organisation that would consider placing an advert in our new guide book, please get in touch to discuss your requirements. The whole thing is still under the planning stage, but we want to have them produced by November 2026. Please get in touch if you are interested in supporting this great charity and getting your business to a wider audience. Every penny raised from sales of the guide book will go towards Military Museum Scotlands running costs.

Do you like Motorbikes?
Do you have a Motorbike you like to show to others?
If you have ever visited Military Museum Scotland, the chances are you may have come across the Rbls Riders Branch, or other likeminded bikers who support what we do.
A spur of the moment idea, is now coming to fruition, so on Sunday 13th of September 2026. Military Museum Scotland is holding a motorbike show.
Whether it's a military bike or not, all are welcome. Come along and show it off.
We have also been looking at setting up MMS Riders (Military Museum Scotland Riders), with the aim to raise funds for Military Museum Scotland by holding events and for camaraderie with like minded people. We are not and will not be a "Bikers Gang" lol . Merely a group of friends with Military Museum Scotland and riding motorbikes at their hart. Come along on Sunday 13th from 10.00-13.00 show of your bike, meet new friends and have a brew before you go on a ride out.
Brew and Burgers will be on sale, all of which will help Military Museum Scotland.
