Sometimes when I’m out exploring I just have to give my head a wobble to check: really? Not enough photos of rocks and stones and stone walls?

TBH the answer is always ‘not yet, oh, look at that!’

A bit of commentary on drawing Las Vegas. And yes, the guitar really is that big.

Germany, here we come.

Delighted (excited, jumping up and down etc) to be an invited guest artist in the Hesse Jubilee Year Art Exhibition 'Shades of Calw' (Hesse – Heimat – 150, emphasis on Heimat) in Calw (pronounced Cal-f) town hall. Running from 5th June to 17th July 2027 I'll have space for approximately 3 50*70cm pieces.

While I already know what 2 of my drawings will be, I currently need help working out the 3rd. Answers on a postcard or in comments please! Only 9 months away but I can’t wait.

In the meantime, the to-do list includes re-reading my Hermann Hesse books (I can only find 3, where's Siddhartha, and the rest?) and researching his life/ works.

Maybe adding more books to my collection, Steppenwolf is 100 in 2027 too.

Also learning more about Calw and area, alongside resurrecting my German for the meet and greets. Hesse fans – maybe I’ll see you there.

News News News!!
Delighted that my prints are now stocked in Radlett at part of Artscape - U.K Artscape Splash at Battlers Green Farm … you'll find city prints plus a selection of more local drawings.
Thank-you Artscape, and best wishes for your Radlett 1st birthday coming up soon.

**Note to self: there’s no Radlett drawing … better set to it.

While there, I talked to some lovely framing customers and witnessed the fun to be had in the splash studio. Then, as a bonus, the lovely Aldenham Art Show organiser (also an artist) popped in, someone I’d not seen for a few years. So pleased to hear where one of my Aldenham prints is being enjoyed.

I’m not the only artist at Artscape Radlett either, so I really enjoyed my visit and drove home via a little detour through Aldenham to revisit my drawing.

Thank you Artscape - it's great to work with you.

Let’s hear it for some of the tiny details that make it into my drawings: street clocks, phone boxes, tardis, Greenwich meridian, hachiko, street umbrellas, Easter symbols, bees (commission) scary spiders, counting sheep, Christs Hospital school statue, lions, welcome signs, hedgehogs, annual duck race, beach huts, distant tractors and more.

Sometimes it feels they are lost amongst the bigger buildings, but they are (to me at least) important parts of that image.

That’s it, I’ve sorted a few things out and booked my place at the The Bridges Organization conference at Ollscoil na Gaillimhe | University of Galway - a bit of a road trip. - bit of time to watch the solar eclipse, maybe even try and remember the route I cycled for 2 weeks when I was young (LoL). (I remember my tent was spectacularly not watertight, some epic stormy weather, plus, if a road says unsuitable for horse drawn carriages, it’s also unsuitable for laden bicycles).

Anyway, I digress. Last year was Fun. Sadly my art submission didn’t get past the selectors but when you see the amazing selected items, it’s really not surprising that mine didn’t get through.

I’m looking forward to 4 days of nerdy content and fun. Art, maths, fashion, music and more. Plus of course the art exhibition. Not long now.

For attention. Here’s some of my terrible origami attempts from last year. I thought ‘how hard can this be?’ The answer is … well … plus a few other pics from the long walks I took. Just look at the overhead bike roundabout!!!

Last week I spent a few days in Manchester and Liverpool - part work part extreme tourist. What fun! Fancy buildings, libraries, canals, history, of course the Beatles, but gutted I didn’t manage to Ferry, cross the Mersey (do sing along). So much inspiration for Manchester and Liverpool drawings.

But, I need your help! (Please ……).

The big questions are: do I do square cityscapes like Paris, New York 1, or the panorama style like London 3 and New York 2.

Do I do a Beatles special?

Do I do a canal/ industry special?

Or maybe a ‘fancy libraries of the world’ special. Please vote/ comment below.
