YAM MILITARY MODEL SHOW - 13TH SEPTEMBER
Yorkshire Air Museum Military Model Show, sponsored by Key Model World and in conjunction with York and District Plastic Models Society, takes place on Sunday September 13th.
Beneath the nose of the Museum’s Handley Page Halifax bomber, model makers will display their brilliantly detailed works of art.
As well as a model display there will be a competition (open to all), with prizes awarded for different categories and scales and an overall prize for best in show.
This is a normal Admissions day for visitors – no special ticket needed.

ALLIED AIR FORCES MEMORIAL DAY.
This Sunday, 6th September, sees the largest memorial event in our calendar.
Allied Air Forces Memorial Day pays tribute to the service of men and women from Commonwealth & Allied Nations.
The venue will welcome official representatives from the Embassies of France, Belgium, Poland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
The Chief of the UK Air Staff will be officially represented by Group Captain John ‘Geordie’ Lawson, Officer Commanding RAF Leeming.
He will conduct a Turning of The Page in YAM’s Book of Remembrance, to the inscription honouring the crew of Ni**od XV230, lost in Kandahar, Afghanistan on Saturday 2nd September 2006, with the loss of 14 souls on board.
An aerial tribute will take the form of a flypast by a fighter from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, expected mid-afternoon, subject of course to weather and serviceability conditions.
The event is open to the public, with a service being held at 12.00 midday in the Museum’s main hangar, under the nose of the Halifax bomber, Friday the 13th.
This is a normal admissions day – no special tickets are required.

UPDATE ON MILITARY VEHICLE SHOW
Unfortunately, due to last-minute staff illness, we are unable to bring out our Pathfinder and Scania Fire Trucks for tours.
We will be offering alternative tours inside our T2 hangar - which also happens to be more appropriate for this morning's weather.

C'EST FORMIDABLE
Volunteer Mal has been recreating some WW2 graffiti/wall-art on one of our original buildings, put there by French personnel at RAF Elvington (members of 346/347 Squadrons, stationed here from 1944-45). We think it says 'Roll on (or long live) discharge day' but if your French is better than ours, please let us know! Nice work Mal.

* Pathfinder and Scania rescue trucks out on display and open for tours
*Cafe 77 open late for exhibitors (from Friday night)

YAM MILITARY VEHICLE SHOW - AUGUST 30TH
The ground is set to shake at the Yorkshire Air Museum, as miliary vehicles of all shapes and sizes roll up for a special event on Sunday August 30th.
The Military Vehicle Show, which returned last year for the first time since covid, will see a range of cars, trucks and armoured vehicles on display around the Museum site.
This is a standard Admissions day at the Museum, with no special tickets required.
