In this three-part documentary, Leo John Davies charts the life and legacy of Thomas Holloway, Victorian philanthropist and founder of Royal Holloway University and Holloway Sanatorium. Travelling from the north of England to the streets of Belgium, Leo explores the places and people that sparked Holloway’s remarkable success.

At the event, we are pleased to offer complimentary food and soft drinks, the chance to see items from our collection up close, and an insight into the behind-the-scenes process. A companion booklet to The Holloway Story will also be on sale, with proceeds split between The Egham Museum and The Access Project, a charity working to end unequal access to education, in keeping with the founding principles of Royal Holloway University.

This documentary was produced by Leo as his Final Project for an MA Public History at Royal Holloway, University of London . Leo has been part of The Egham Museum team since January 2024, producing content and delivering school sessions across the area. His videos relating to Thomas Holloway’s legacy have garnered over 100,000 views, and he has brought the Holloway story to more than 300 primary school pupils through local sessions. Leo’s public history platform, LJD Histories, brings together collaborations from across the country alongside his own independent work.
