šŸ¾šŸ„‚šŸ„³ Today is a rather special day for me — five years since I took the reins at Park Gallery.

And I’ve genuinely loved it.

It’s a privilege to work in a beautiful town, in a beautiful building, surrounded every day by beautiful art. But more than that, these five years have introduced me to so many hugely talented artists and some genuinely lovely customers — many of whom have become friends.

One of the things I’ve loved most is seeing just how powerfully art can connect with people. I’ve watched someone stop in their tracks when they see a painting, heard the stories and memories a piece can bring back, and even seen people moved to tears.

Five years in, I still get a real buzz when the right piece of art finds the right person.

So, a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has put their time, energy and heart into Park Gallery over these past five years — our artists, volunteers, family, everyone who has worked with us, and, of course, not forgetting my wife, Hazel, who has been alongside me through it all.

Park Gallery is something I’m genuinely proud of. It’s gone from strength to strength, and I know that wouldn’t have happened without the many people around me who have played their part.

Here’s to the next five! šŸ¾šŸ„‚

By the Light of the Moon šŸŒ™

With tomorrow’s solar eclipse, it seems the perfect moment to share this new piece by our latest sculptor to join Park Gallery, Darren Rumley.

For a short while tomorrow evening, the Moon will pass between us and the Sun, reminding us just how much these two familiar objects in our sky have shaped the way we understand time, direction and our place in the world.

Darren’s By the Light of the Moon picks up on some of those same ideas. The crescent moon sits within a form reminiscent of a sundial — or perhaps more appropriately, a moon dial — reflecting the moon’s long association with navigation and finding our way through darkness.

A rather timely arrival at Park Gallery.

Customers are continually amazed by the uniqueness, skill and beauty of Alison Holt’s work. Today was just another one of those moments.

It’s always a pleasure watching someone stop, look a little closer, and gradually realise just how much patience and craftsmanship has gone into each piece. The many threads combine to create extraordinary textures and detail that photographs never quite do justice.

Congratulations to the new owner—we’re delighted this beautiful piece has found its new home.

At Park Gallery, we love Jan Bruceā€˜s sculptures with their flowing lines and soft edges. A fantastic example of this is Family No.2 which perfectly embodies the magic in a family bond. This contemporary Portland Stone sculpture creates a beautiful expression of love and togetherness.

Caroline’s beautifully eccentric landscape paintings with their gentle sunlight, familiar buildings, and winding streets come together to create a charming narrative. Her artwork invites you to experience the storybook scenes she portrays and create some escapism from your own living room!

ā€˜Release’ by David Lloyd Collins captures both power and grace, conveying that exhilarating sense of freedom so often associated with a horse erupting into full flight.

David’s talent reveals itself not only in his confident application of paint, but also in his carefully restrained colour palette. The muted tones provide a calm counterpoint to the untamed energy of the horse, creating a striking harmony between stillness and movement.

Bold, expressive brushwork and a keen understanding of equine anatomy combine to give the painting an extraordinary sense of momentum, as though the horse is bursting straight from the canvas.

Release is a powerful celebration of strength, freedom and movement.

We’re delighted to welcome Jonathan Oakes to Park Gallery.

Originally from Sheffield, Jonathan spent much of his early life exploring the landscapes of the Peak District — a lasting influence that continues to shape his work today. His abstract paintings are richly layered with texture, mark making and atmosphere, often unfolding through conversations of meandering thought, visual fragments and subtle narratives that invite the viewer’s imagination.

After studying Visual Art and Professional Media, Jonathan exhibited widely before spending a number of years immersed in sound editing and digital music production — an experience that still echoes through the rhythm and depth of his paintings today.

We’re excited to now be showing Jonathan’s work here at Park Gallery.
