👻 Witches, ghosts, and dolls... our Halloween Special of The Chelmsford Broadcast is out now!

We are currently seeking volunteers for our new Your Voice, Our Collection project.

You will help uncover forgotten stories, rediscover important objects and reveal new perspectives on Chelmsford’s past. Volunteers will assist with cataloguing and rationalising our local social history collection. This volunteer opportunity will be based at our South Woodham Ferrers museum store.

This means that we’ll be closed to the public and will reopen at 1:30pm. Our closure times remain the same – 5pm (last entry at 4pm). The Hive café is open from 8am as normal, and the park will be open as usual to enjoy!

Calling all parents of children under 5! This Thursday, join us for our next Boris Bear Cubs session which is themed around loving our city and recycling.

Boris Bear Cubs is perfect for our youngest museum visitors, and each session is held in the Wells Suite for 60 minutes. This gives the children a larger space to play, explore and learn, as well as giving parents the opportunity to connect with each other. These sessions are held every other Thursday during the school term and are themed to different topics featured in the museum.
