For over two centuries a light vessel has been stationed at the East Goodwin sands - LV21 was a guardian there for many years, assisting sea farers navigate safe channels of passage.

Older, tighter and considerably better rehearsed, The Libertines returned to Rochester Castle this month. The songs, it turns out, survive rather well without the chaos.

They lead our July Culture Review, which ranges from tactile art in Rochester Cathedral’s crypt and model railways at Chatham Dockyard to a Hoo safari, Turkish grills and a railway-arch micropub.

Wow what a fantastically busy weekend we had in various locations across the Hoo Peninsula!

We had fabulous time running free WHOOP drop-in workshops at the Isle of Grain Summer Fete on Saturday and at the Slough Fort Preservation Trust Restoration Day on Sunday alongside Whose Hoo Scheme. And topping off the fun with a visit to see an amazing array of artists at the wonderful Grain Coast Crafty Alpaca Farm as part of the Medway Open Studios & Arts Festival.

Thanks to all the participants, partners and people we met over the weekend for sharing your brilliant suggestions for HOOliday destinations for artist Bryan Hawkins to explore, positive interactions with the mighty River Creatures by Charlie Fox and Sylak Ravenspine, and creating your own Souvenir Travel Badges with the Filaments Art Collective.

Romeo Stodart is the lead singer/songwriter in the much loved London based rock n roll harmony group The Magic Numbers.

The band comprising of two pairs of brothers and sisters have released five critically acclaimed albums thus far including the self-titled Mercury Music Prize nominated, million selling debut. Alongside The Magic Numbers, Romeo has collaborated with a vast array of artists including writing songs for & with the late Jane Birkin, Edwyn Collins, Amadou & Mariam, The Chemical Brothers and Ren Harvieu, producing records for Billy Bragg, Natalie Imbruglia & Kathryn Williams to name a few. He has also contributed his unique guitar playing style to various projects, adding banjo, guitar & harmonies on the Spiritualized album, Sweet Heart Sweet Light, touring with Jimmy Webb & The Webb Brothers to playing as part of Damon Albarn’s Africa Express collective. Romeo is currently putting the finishing touches to a new Magic Numbers album due to be released early next year.
