A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Independents' Day today. We haven't seen the shop so busy for a long time and there was a brilliant buzz. We were able to discuss our work with customers and connections were made along the way 👌

Just a little reminder that we have a fantastic vinyl record room on site too! If you're visiting us on Saturday, Doug - our man in the know - will be on hand to wax lyrical about the very best sound storage medium ever created 😉

Kerry Thomas

I began needle-felting in August 2014 after buying a kit at a craft exhibition in Kirkcudbright, and have been enjoying the process of making pictures with wool, silk and other fibres ever since. I love the varied expressions of depth, detail and perspective that you can get from the fibres, and how tactile the practice is. Making sheep out of sheep wool is particularly appropriate!
I also enjoy painting (mostly watercolours and inks) and have recently discovered gelli plate printing. I needle-felt mostly landscapes, woodlands and seascapes, I paint more abstract images, and the gel plate prints are usually of leaf and plant impressions, which can be collaged together with hand or machine embroidery to create other designs. I have also carried out commissions using both needle-felting and wet-felting techniques.
As well as the pictures I make (and frame myself) I also make greetings cards, tea light lanterns, needle-felting kits for others to begin the way I did, and items such as thread bowls using free-motion machine embroidery.
