The discovery of treasures hidden unfolds.
I am midway in clearing my lovely friend and next-door neighbour Sandra's house as she relocates to a carehome, thankfully only 5 minutes up the road.
She has no family around apart from us and a few other neighbours. She was a very creative woman and an avid collector of unusual and beautiful objects. I could literally have a whole other account showing what I have found. But I'll keep it related to things that fit with the Leadlight Studio vibe as it could go rogue... 🤣
Today, I found some laboradite rocks. This is just one of them. To me, it looks like a tiny underwater world, like being right on the bottom of the ocean looking up.
It's totally mesmerising, almost looks fake or like AI, but it's a real natural (half polished) rock!.
I might have to recreate it into a giant stained glass panel..

I made myself a new dipping pen out of a broken dangley thing from Bristol Blue Glass and a vintage optrex eyebath!

Three years ago!!
My lovely Lido Lady was already flying..
The Lido Collection was in my head (on paper and on the tip of my creative journey), and then I applied to go on the telly)
II will be forever grateful for for her general loveliness and support and for choosing me and having faith in me and my products. I now have an extra strange tv family going on in the background, and I love them.
It really was like sticking a rocket up my arse. I have kearnt so many lessons in risk-taking and goal setting.
If there's something you have been putting off, dont overthink it, crack on!.
Apply for it
(nothing bad will happen.. apart from your ego, but I'm here for you...🤣)

Took my bestie outside to play in the shadows with some of my newly acquired objects. This is one of my absolute favourite pieces I have ever made. The sea fans and coral were found in the clearing of my neighbours house. Obviously, these objects should have been left where they were. Sandea travelled a lot and collected all sorts of treasures on her way. They are so incredibly inspiring for me personally. I've taken a load of close-up macro photos that I will share. They will become new designs at some point, probably on clear glass like this piece.

I'm adding another one of my most popular designs from my The Lido Collection.
This is Amelie. She will join Daphne.
This pattern is recreated from a tiny section of a border spotted on one of my historial stained glass window wanderings.
The last 3 were snapped up after my last post, so I've made 3 more! I think this will be the way I will be working from now on, as the big Lido Collection drops take too long.
I'll be adding her in the next couple of days. If you don't manage to get one, she will take approximately 6-8 weeks to make as fit them in around my other work. Hope you like her!

She is £95 (plus £7 p&p)

Portrait of an artist in a fascinating facinator!
I'd make myself some rose tinted spectacles if pink glass wasn't so unbelievably expensive!
Anyway... Happy Monday, I'm easing in gently to the week with list making and a tidy up. What's your plan?

When I left University, I got a job with the British Hangliding Association in a little town outside Madrid in Spain. My job was to drive the competitors to the top of the mountain and help rig up before returning to the pool to wait for my cb radio to give instructions. This was before mobile phones or goggles so I would just get map coordinates when they had landed and would then have to find them and pick them up (tricky when most of the land was private/agricultual and my Spanish was limited!!) Obviously, when moving to Bristol I have continued my fascination of tracking things...
Last night, as we often do in summer i heard the Whoosh of gas , and suddenly me and were balloon detectives, barefoot, and braless chasing balloons. We got there just as they all landed!

A few people have asked about silver stain recently, so I thought I'd share this! This is an old reject piece of painted glass that I've been adding silver stain to every now and then (just for the lols and because it's getting prettier everytime!) It's really ugly with direct sunlight behind it as the stain is now misty and clunky but if it's plated on a white, or mirrored background, it's beautiful!
I love to experiment. I also love to mess up sometimes because that's when you truly learn how far you can push something... or when to stop!
