Drums 🥁 and Colours 🏳️

Drums were an essential part of any battle, it was noisy and sometimes chaotic, so commanders orders would relay via beats.

Beats you hear on the field would be for marching, advancing and messages to the opposition ( such as a parlay )

Colours, more commonly known as company or regimental Ensign. Generally a junior officer who lead their soldiers in to battle.

They would be the reforming point, to get soldiers back into rack and file. Also to taunt the enemy, by showing impressive skills at waving the flag. Your Ensign would die rather than surrendering the colour.
