In the 1980s, Ivana Šrámková .sramkova brought a new dimension to Czechoslovakian glass art: humor and playfulness. With her figurative sculptures of people and animals - which she reduces to their simplest forms - she breathed new life into glass art. And onto the canvas as well, as can be seen here! 🖼
The two objects on display here ("Sitzend" and "Mensch und Maschine") were even part of her final exam at the Czech Academy of Arts , in 1987!
We are delighted to be able to exhibit such significant works here at the Glass Museum. ✨
And finally: What do you think came first? The drawing or the sculpture? (If you look closely, you might be able to tell...) 👀

Today’s glass artist in the spotlight: Bohumil Eliáš Sr.!✨🔴
He is known for his unique style of stained glass art, which combines various techniques. He views glass not merely as a surface, but as sculptures; he paints and glues different panels together; and he incorporates other unconventional materials, such as sand and decals. 😳⏳
In this way, he creates abstract and, at times, figurative landscapes on glass. This is particularly evident in these two objects —the first is titled “Mosquito Farm” (2000). In In the last picture you can see that he also combined glass art with painting on canvas. 🏞️
We are happy to be able to feature this prominent glass artist in our collection!

The vase - a glass classic!☝️But our exhibition shows just how versatile this form can be: from classic Venetian-inspired glass art (photos 1–3), featuring works by Gino Cenedese and Anja Kjær & Darryle Hinz, to new, abstract interpretations (photos 4–7)!
We love Davide Salvadore's vibrant, red vase (2010), but also Paul Schwieders complete abstraction of the form in the object "Entropy" (2025). Benjamin Edols' & Katy Elliot's "Leaf" (2007) also offers a completely new take on the shape of a vase. 🍃

Stop by and experience the diversity of glass and its forms at our museum. 💎🏺

From Spain to Hamburg... and all over the world! Javier Gomez is considered one of the world's leading glass sculptors. Using colorful glass panes that he glues together, cuts, and polishes, Gomez creates abstract and vibrant figures. The various layers of color create a remarkable sense of depth and produce unique interactions with light. ✨🌈 ❤️
Shown here: “Chromatic Abstraction IX” (2022) and “Dialogos en la Forma V” (2020).

The rainy weather of northern Germany is back... good thing we have a few “rainy”-looking objects that blend in perfectly with the scenery!💧🌧
Of course there's Vladimira Klumpar's "After rain" (2009) and Matyas Pavlik's "Deliquescence" and "Precipitation (2017) - but Dalibor Tichý's "Die Flügel" (1983) and Vladimír Procházka's "Frozen Window" (2018) also bring raindrops to mind, don't they?

If you need some fresh inspiration in this grey weather, stop by and take a look at our glass objects! 🌞☔️

Today we'd like to introduce you to Josepha Gasch-Muche's glass art ! The German artist, who originally studied drawing and etching, has always enjoyed experimenting with a wide variety of materials. Eventually, she turned her attention to glass: she breaks ultra-thin display glass and uses it to create these impressive wall art pieces. We are delighted to present her works here! 🩶
“Do not touch” takes on a whole new meaning here, given the sharp edges of the glass... 🫢💎

The soft color transition from brown to violet, the wave-like shape, and the translucent light create such elegance! .... It feels as though Petr Hora’s “Butterfly” is soaring straight into the sky. 🦋
A beautiful piece in our collection that stands out for its technical precision and really comes into its own against a bright blue sky. 🌤️
