FUGUE OF BECOMING
Galerie Sara Lily Perez is pleased to present Fugue of Becoming, a solo exhibition of new and recent works by Berlin-based Japanese painter Rei Zukidou.
Centered on a new body of work produced in 2026, the exhibition explores the fluid relationship between figuration and mark-making within Zukidou’s practice. Across open pictorial fields, gestures, stains, fragments, and signs unfold through repetition, interval, variation, and return.
The exhibition title draws on the structure of the fugue as a model for recurrence and transformation, reflecting the way forms reappear across Zukidou’s practice without resolving into fixed states.
