Didier Amevi Ahadsi is a self-taught artist from Togo, whose inspiration ranges from voodoo religious practices to a series of personal narratives.

"Didier Ahadsi comes from the Ewe people, an ethnic group that is still closely connected to the traditional values of Africa and the environment of the artist was and is strongly influenced spiritually and stands in the field of tension between increasing modernization and old African tradition."

Uwe Schade, Wolfenbüttel. Didier Adhasi Catalogue, Bwoom-Contemporary Gallery, 2012.

An Olumeye figure, showing a female Yoruba figure kneeling on a round base, holding a sacrificial bowl in both hands in front of her. There are four little figures, two are kneeling left and right of her, supporting her elbows and one kneels on each of her forearms. These bowl-bearing figures are called "Olumeye figures". Each of the entire group of figures of these "bowl bearers" was carved from a single piece of wood. The artistic high hairstyle is consisting of stylised plaits and the upper body of the tall woman is decorated with fine incisions of various patterns, as it were engravings, and they are partly painted black. The large bowl is in the shape of a finely incised rooster whose feet are worked the other way round so that the claws point backwards; the base is damaged and there are some minor age-related cracks.

A zoomorphic male Chamba sculpture from northern Nigeria with human features in the form of slightly bent legs and male genitalia, which then changes to the depiction of a bird creature from the hip onwards. Especially the jagged part of the back also continued on the head, cites a phenomenon that the bird suggests similarities to dinosaurs with ornamentation applied on the outside of the wings, consisting of small stones in diagonally arranged stripes worked into the crusty patina. The huge beak and the large round eyes are dominant; altogether covered with a reddish-brown patina and white kaolin pigments.

An extremely rare high-quality Idoma terracotta bust, Nigeria. Depicted is a female person in a colourful, blue-dominated garment with a black collar at the base of the long neck. On her head, she wears a high, flat and curved headdress extending to the chin at the sides. A round mirror is embedded at the height of each ear and at the top in the middle. Here, too, the blue colour dominates, along with ochre, red and black. The headdress sits on an almost smooth skull with suggested short black hair. Over a red grounding, the face is painted white and only the lips are left red. The coffee bean-like closed eyes are protruding, and the curved eyebrows are connected to the short, straight nose. The mouth underneath is similarly shaped to the eyes, only slightly larger.
The bust is astonishing in several respects. It is a singular piece, our archaeologist knows of nothing comparable. The mirror on the right side of the bust was already broken in two when it was inserted. All three mirrors have strange scratches in their centre, besides the obvious damages, as if to make them intentionally blind.
