Where do we draw boundaries, and what happens when we cross them?

Studio Lemercier, co-directed by artist Joanie Lemercier and curator Juliette Bibasse, explores how light, landscape, and technology shape our perception of the world. Working with projections, water, plotter drawings, and other custom structures, their practice moves beyond the screen to question the systems and technologies that increasingly mediate our relationship with nature.

«Thresholds – On the Values We Set and the Limits We Cross» is the first comprehensive presentation of Studio Lemercier’s work in Switzerland, bringing together works from nearly two decades of artistic practice alongside new works premiering at HEK.

Each work marks a threshold: between the visible and invisible, digital and physical, nature and technology, imagination and responsibility. Moving between wonder and critical reflection, the exhibition asks who defines these boundaries, and which values guide the choices we make in the face of ecological and technological change.

To mark the closing weekend of «New Rituals [for the End of the World]» at HEK, artist and curator Anan Fries shares insights into the exhibition and the inspirations behind their practice. Together, we explore techno-spirituality: the strange and fascinating meeting point of technology, belief and everyday life.

To accompany 404_LAND, the online exhibition by HEK Basel x Tezos Foundation curated by Auronda Scalera and Alfredo Cramerotti, the participating artists have released a series of works on objkt.com.
