Das HEK (Haus der elektronischen Künste) ist das Schweizer Kompetenzzentrum, das sich mit allen Kunstformen befasst, die sich durch neue Technologien und Medien ausdrücken und sie reflektieren. Mit seiner interdisziplinären Ausrichtung ermöglicht das HEK einer breiten Öffentlichkeit Einblicke in Kunstproduktionen unterschiedlicher Gattungen in der Auseinandersetzung von Kunst, Medien und Technologie. In einem vielfältigen Programm aus Ausstellungen, kleineren Festivalformaten, Performances und Konzerten widmet sich das HEK ästhetischen Entwicklungen. Neben der Veranstaltungs- und Ausstellungstätigkeit beschäftigt sich das HEK mit der Sammlungsmethodik und dem Erhalt digitaler Kunst. Die junge Institution, gegründet 2011, gehört zu den Pionieren auf dem Dreispitzareal, einem ehemaligen Zollfreilager in Basel

The Makers Room opened today for Mesh Festival ★

Make, stitch, scan, sip, read, rest: the Makers Room is yours to move through at your own pace. Drop in anytime and drift between hands-on stations. Make a glowing LED friendship bracelet, design 3D tech-creatures and discover them in augmented reality, or join Stefan Degen’s participatory textile project The Strings We Attach, where you can learn to crochet and contribute to a shared sculpture. You can also curl up with sci-fi stories curated by Lerie Pemangpo in the cosy Reading Corner, blend your own tea at the Amriza Tea Station, or simply drop by to see what everyone’s making.

For the small and tall, young and old, curious or cautious: come as you are, stay as long as you like, and see what we can make together.
