Meet Vida Lamour, one of the talented drag performers who will be performing in the ‘Wiidabimishin: Sit Beside Me’ Two-Spirit Drag Showcase!

Serving legacy, luxury, and unapologetic Indigenous excellence, Vida Lamour DeCosmo is a crowned icon, snatching nearly every title in Winnipeg, including Empress 11 & 18. She's the mother to the city's oldest and largest drag house and one of the founding forces behind The Bannock Babes- a power house collective of indigenous and 2spirit drag artists mostly out of Treaty one. Vida isn't just part of the scene.... she helped build it.
Known for serving glamour, precision and fierce performances, just the right amount of old school. Vida has become a legendary presence on stage. Some say she's been holding down Winnipeg's drag scene for 26 years. Others joke she invented drag. Vida has never confirmed either.........and she doesn't have to.

Meet Anita Stallion, our host and one of the talented drag performers who will be performing in the ‘Wiidabimishin: Sit Beside Me’ Two-Spirit Drag Showcase!

As a youngster, Anita can recall so many summers and holidays visiting her grandparents in Duck Bay on the shoreline of Winnipegosis. Drag is not necessarily something Anita saw herself doing; it was the encouragement and nudging from a friend, Dorland McKay, that got her started. There have been so many wonderful things she's experienced through drag over the past 27 years and my travels across Canada and the United States.
Anita was crowned Miss Club 200 then as Empress of Winnipeg & All of Manitoba in 2001, then once again in 2007 which allowed her to spearhead fundraising for local charities, raising tens of thousands of dollars during her reigns.
As Club 200's Matriarch, she's been able to work with an amazing group of drag artists, including being a part of Bannock Babes which is a collaborative all Indigenous Drag Troupe that started on Treaty 1 and has just celebrated their 7th anniversary of representing Indigenous communities across Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario. Her drag journey and experiences are ones that she holds dear to her heart, and she is so eternally grateful of the lessons she still learns from the performers in Winnipeg. Being a part of co-curating this Two-Spirit exhibit and showcase alongside Lucas Corbin Cole has really been a fascinating endeavor for Anita as she continues to explore and expand her creative journey further.

Do you like both b**rs and q***rs? If so, you really don't want to miss out on the Matter Pale Ale, lovingly brewed by our friends at .

Meet Ernest Hart (he/him), one of the talented artists whose work will be shown in the ‘Wiidabimishin: Sit Beside Me’ Two-Spirit Group Exhibit!

Ernest Hart grew up living in the north in Norway House Cree Nation before arriving to Winnipeg, MB, ten years ago as a way to discover his independence. During that time, he spent 5 years navigating his addiction and experiencing houselessness between Winnipeg and Toronto. Creating art became a form of therapy for Ernest and helped him learn more about his psychosis and he uses it as a tool to heal and process the voices. In the last year, Ernest has secured stable housing and he has been reconnecting to his culture again which is reflected through his art and the stories that he shares. Ernest's artist name is "Native Son".
